Wheel and Tire Protection
Has anyone on here got the wheel and tire protection? If so, how much did you pay for it?
https://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/servi...ire_protection
or perhaps the whole Appearance Package - https://www.mbfs.com/mbfsr/en/faqs/f...sAppearance.do
I've had a few problems with tires on my Grand Cherokee in the last 3 years and want to get the tire insurance this time - especially since there is no spare in the GLC.
Also, can I get it from any dealership? Or should it be purchased from the one that is putting my ED order through?
The maintenance package can be bought anywhere, so my guess is, same goes for the tire insurance.

I opted for the wheel protection. To me it was a no brainer at the time because the GLC43 is for my wife as her daily driver and it has the 21" wheels. Others may disagree. She's a cautious driver, but wanted to safeguard against the odd pothole here and there

The wheel protection does not cover curb rash and if you decide after 12 months or more that the tires ride hard or are no good in the rain, you can't just buy another brand. After 20k I decided my factory Dunlap are not a good weather tire and I am going to buy some Michelin Premium LTX tires. If I had the tire plan, all that money for it is out the door.

Zf - please understand that since you are leasing your car - then packages like wheel/tire become MORE affordable for you.
The reason I say that - properly done by the Finance Dept - those packages become part od the Capitalized Costs - and you will pay a portion of the cost equal to depreciation.
To give you a example - if on a 3yr lease your residual is 60% - as a example - then on a $1000 protection package - you will pay 40% of that cost.
So... for lease - it makes GOOD SENSE to purchase prepaid maintenance and to purchase those protection packages that make sense to you.
Yes - wheel/tire covers "curb rash"" up to replacing the wheel itself - and more - there is a "cap" on the total claims allowed so you can't intentionally play bumper cars.
Remember - I am talking about Mercedes Financial Wheel/Tire - I am not saying this for non-Mercedes wheel/tire because any non-MB "portection" will have it's own set of restrictions.

To answer one of my questions - you can purchase the Tire Protection only at the time of the sale and from the dealer where you are getting the car from

So to answer my question:
You have to get the tire protection at time of signing the paperwork (or so I have been told by multiple dealers), so no shopping around as on the Maintenance plan.
I was offered the package at $895 for 3 years or $995 for 3 years including cosmetic repairs (such as curb rash). There are 4 incidents allows for cosmetic and if reported at same time, all 4 wheels can be counted as 1 incident. There is a $50 deductible on either plan.
I was also quoted the appearance package - which is including dent repair and windshield repair - that is $2299 for 3 years.
I was also told (not sure if true) that the tire plan (unlike maintenance) is not part of the cap cost and I have to pay full price.

For my last two BMW X5's I always got the tires and wheels insurance, it's a no brainer. For my current X5, I already replaced 5 tires and I'm planning on getting the insurance for the GLC43 AMG Coupe.
