I noticed both Pirelli and Continental do MOE marked tyres in the UK in 255/35R19. But both are only H rated.
I really don't want Continental again, but the reviews seem universally excellent.

I think you're right. The Contis are the best rated option (which I would have gone for if buying new) but the Pirellis are not far behind and a bit cheaper at £160 a corner vs £190 (in MOE runflat).

Ah, but some of us use our cars to go skiing..where we are subject to the weather (and laws) of others, as well as the practical safety issues.
Also, I'm often leaving London before 0600 on winter mornings when temperatures are not exactly at their highest.

The normal tires on a GLC are wider at the back (255/45 R 20 Y (Front); 285/40 R 20 Y (Rear)). Looking at the tirelocator, they are only listed 235/55R19.
Does that mean you get the same wheels+tires combos for all wheels?
Is there a spacer at the back to get the narrower wheels or is it just less "inside"?

Yup. The recommended winter set-up is square rather than staggered. I have the standard staggered 19 summer set in the UK and my winter set is 235/55 R19 all round (summer front size).
The rears are a bit narrower. No need for spacers unless aesthetics bother you.
Do be careful if getting a non-MB set of 19s to ensure that they fit over front brakes.

I am curious to see if it's noticable versus the regular summer setup.
When you say staggered, does that mean the origin summer setup wheels are not aligned? The rear one are stickign out more?

I swapped out my winters at the weekend so back on my summer set.
By staggered I mean that the rears are wider - 255 vs 235.
It looks better and fills the rear arches.
The narrower winters don't look as good at the back but you have to look quite carefully to notice the difference and most obvious from directly behind.
I think it is personal opinion how much it would bother you.
