No issues so far in 10 months. Works well. No complaints.

I have this trans in my S coupe when shifting from 3-4 under very mild acceleration I'm getting a rougher shift and feel the torque converter engage just before the shift occurs...no other gears have this problem. Apparently some of the new E class' are having similar issues. Is yours a 4matic?

Is it possible that there's a dog clutch being used between gears 3 and 4? If so, that might explain the different behavior you're feeling. I assume that the 9G uses at least 1 dog clutch since ZFs 9 speed uses 2 AFAIK.

Overall working well. There's a weird shift spot that either downshifts hard or upshifts hard in comfort mode. Not sure exactly where it's at, but it happens when its cold and don't notice anything negative after its warmed up and ran through the gears a few times.

i don't know, but it is only under light throttle and anything beyond that the 3-4 shift is smooth and with no torque converter lock up sensation. The 7g had a similar sensation during 2-3 but much less noticeable. The problem like others have mentioned in the w213 forum doesn't always occur but it does about 50% . This appears to be the only flaw and I hope MB gets a software flash out soon.

The 9G is a much better transmission than its predecessor the 7 speed.
It is much smoother on downshifts.

Agreed.
Have you experienced the 3-4 light throttle shifting issue described above?

2016 GLC300 4Matic
The big plus with the 9G is that the top 3 gears are overdrive, which, of course, improves mpg markedly. With my 4Matic, shifts are very smooth, and manual downshifts on long hills work flawlessly. I find no fault with it.

Never had the 7G in my GLC.As such can't really compare it.

I had the 7G in my GL and it was absolutely fine, I have the 9G in my GLC43 with some AMG magic applied to it and it is also absolutely fine.

As stated earlier have 9g in my GLC. No complaints. Have 7g+ in my c class, no issues. The 7g in my GL had occ rough shifting.

Hi, GLC 250d. 4matic with 9g auto tranny.
Very happy with changes and performance. Sports+ is whiplash territory while comfort mode lopes along. Maybe due to diesel torque, but it does not "hunt" for any gears and copes with steep grades, both up and down hills quite well. Adaptive cruise works very good with 9g as well.
We have travelled 21000km to date.

i agree that the 9g is a great gearbox, and very well mated to the car. But a 250d whiplash territory? Seriously? I felt like Fred Flintstone driving one; I.e. Get my feet out and push it along as I already had the "pedal to the metal".

It it really makes me wonder what the reference framework is. Mine before the test drive was our big heavy beast the GL 350d which has more oomph with its 7G gearbox.

Sorry Fred, it's all relevant, as you said. Maybe South of the Equator helps with the axis of the world spinning, down in Oz Land we might benefit from sling shot acceleration as astronauts do ? ; or you need new Roman sandles from Bath ? Lol.
But seriously, yes anything from MB with AMG badging will go very well. The humble 250d Down Under works just fine in Sports +, as we have lower speed limits before Mr Plod steps in with a speed camera.
Enjoy your ride.
