Navigation Query

On my Navi screen in the bottom right corner it gives a count down distance to the next right/left turn. This is typically within a few hundred metres. A greater distance doesn't register, whereas my old Garmin always displayed the distance even if it was 25 miles to the next motorway exit. Should my MB Command give this info as well?

I find MB's navigation is doing its job but not as good as stand alone and mobile phone's navigation.
If the navigation didn't come with the package, I would not order it.

Well thanks your two pennyworth but it doesn't answer the question, does it?

a whole 2 pennyworth ....wow that's more than I thought. LOL
I am just sharing my experience but obviously it did not answer your question.
You asked "Should my MB Command give this info as well?", I think that the question you should ask MB directly and honestly I don't think you'll get it as MB's navigation does not work the same as your old Garmin.
Happy motoring.

Which version do you have? Have you got the full Command Online system or the SD card based system?

I'll have to double check, but I'm pretty sure mine shows the full distance. I'm on 2017 (v10.0) with the full system.

Mine gives the countdown no matter what the distance. Not sure it's in the bottom right corner as you say but will check later when the boss gets home with the car!

Your description is correct, in my experience. The information you seek (upcoming turn, etc.) *is* available, but not where you're looking.

Next time you have a destination set, try this:
  1. On the left side of the steering wheel, click the "Menu" button - it looks like a little house.
  2. Scroll down to "Navi" on the Multifunction display between the speedometer and tachometer.
  3. Press the "OK" button on the left side of the steering wheel.
  4. Hopefully, you will see a "next turn" graphic in the Multifunction display.

I've wondered why I wasn't seeing next turn distance & direction, that explains it. Just seems like another nonsensical "feature".

You should be getting this info on the centre screen also!

I will check it out again, but not that I have been able to see. This seems to echo what the previous poster had said, with it being only on the multifunction display above the steering wheel when it should appear on the navi screen.

The multifunction display above the wheel is an extra.

That's curious - what do you see between the speedometer and the tachometer if you don't order this extra? (As far as I know, I didn't order the Multifunction display, unless it's part of one of the packages I did order.)

the display between the gauges is standard, the optional one is the "Head-up Display." it projects onto the windshield and also shows navigation information.

the multi-function display in the centre console, iPad looking one, when in "Nav" mode shows the route, turns, estimated arrival time, distance to next turns, etc. all route information is displayed there.

the in-dash display, between the speedometer and tachometer, will show route information as well when you cycle to the nav heading of that.

then if you have the optional "head-up display," it shows more as well.

I must have something misconfigured, then, 'cause I don't see all that when I have a destination set and route guidance is on. (I did on my 2010 Lexus RX 350 when under route guidance.)

"Next turn" information only shows up when I'm almost at the "next turn", not right after making the latest turn, as I would have expected and wanted.

A gaggle of MB's
There are TWO different Nav systems for the GLC depending on your options: COMMAND which is integrated full voice control Nav (large screen) - which alos gives you the choice to show basic Nav info in the cluster - which will also show basic Nav info in the Head Up display (with that added option).

The 2nd Nav is the SD card based Garmin - which gives you more basic Nav in the center screen only (standard screen) and "some" limited voice control.

So... basic to the OP - do you have COMAND nav or the added SD card Garmin ?

Thanks for helpful replies, guys. I've got the full Command system. When you look in the bottom right hand corner the display gives you 0.1ml irrespective of where you are. Until you're within approx 400 metres of your turn when it tells you on a count down. I'll have a look at the instrument display function to see if that tells me any more. But if I'm cruising along the motorway and I don't need to do anything for 20 miles I'd like to be told so I can just, er, switch off.

Correction and humble pie for me. I must not have been awake this morning. I especially looked for this tonight.

With the full full command system 2017 v10 the bottom right on the big display shows the scale of the map. Not the distance to the next exit.

Only when hen you are getting close it will show the distance and then it will switch to a detailed map with distance for the actual exit.

However when you switch the information system display inbetween the instrument cluster to Navi it will provide an arrow and the distance to the next exit (and estimated time of arrival as well).

I have found no option option to change the information on the big display to display the distance to the next exit all the time.

Once you have set the destination and have the navigation running, you could switch the screen to something else like radio or music media
The navigation will continue to guide you.
It will continue to tell you the next coming up exits.

I concur with your summary of how the visual part of route guidance works. That's what I've found as well, although I would much prefer the big display screen's showing the next turn info immediately after making the previous turn. Thanks for posting this.

I don't think that's the point.

We want to see the distance to the next turn and direction of the turn on the big display. The audio guidance isn't the issue.

I know it's not exactly what you're after but honestly I don't think you'll ever find it work the way you described.
Hopefully you'll find some other way to work around it.

The way I described is exactly the way it worked on my former car - 2010 Lexus RX 350.

I think you're saying that we'll never get the M-B navigation system to work that way, and I'm afraid you're probably correct.

I don't doubt that your 2010 RX does exactly what you described but I don't think it works that way on the GLC. Hopefully one day MB will come out with an update to address this.
