Just received Glc 220
in ireland with basic Audio 20. Had read on some treads of people buying Garmin SD cards. Mine has the SD card slot in center cubby. They just insert and hey presto the Nav works. I have ordered a card. But on collection my dealer told me it won't work, he said the Nav needs to be activated by MB( sounded like not a big deal, but he said it would cost €500, I got the impression MB are wise to people buying cheap SD cards and have somehow put a stop to this). When I press the Nav button nothing happens. Any ideas or suggestion please.

2015 C300 4matic
I recently purchased a 2015 c300 with the map pilot option preinstalled. I purchased v5.2 card from amazon and when I insert it, it acts like it's activating, but then returns an error that says "update cards are not accepted, please visit your closest mercedes benz dealer".. Has anyone been able to work around this?

GLC 2016
Hi Guys, I have a 67 plate GLC(X253). The activation worked seamlessly and the operation of it is 100% spot on. Excellent. I am a very happy customer. I was unsure which to buy and sent an email which was responded to within a couple hours. I purchased online and it arrived the next week. I cannot fault the service or the product I have received.

Today I received an SD card with North American maps ver. 9.0 for my 2019 GLC 300. Bought on ebay from UK seller for $68 including shipping.I now see the seller is no longer on ebay. So, yes, buying on ebay is risky. But it was a good price or, per below "you get what you pay for." :-)
It loaded easily and seems to be working fine. Wanting to update the map, I loaded it into my pc and started up the MB Download Manager. The program recognized the SD card with ver 9.0 and said an update was available. But the update process stopped quickly with a message in red saying "there is not enough free space on the hard disk" Looking at the "properties" of the sd card I see Used at 19.4 and free at 10.3. So the SD card is 32GB (and I guess should be at least 64.)
Are the SD cards purchased from dealers larger than 32GB?
When updating TomTom units, the back up of the current map is to the PC's hard but that doesn't seem to be the case with this SD card??

that was my first thought and I did find that the PC's main partition was close to full so I did remove about 59GB of files. I then restarted the PC and tried the MB download manager a few more times. Per above, I then did see that the free space on the SD card less than the size of the ver 9 software files.

Looking at some backups, my images of the SD card data are ~32gb. The download should replace the files on the SD card, not add to them, so I believe 32gb is correct. I'll have to check the card directly later.
If you haven't already, I recommend you backup the SD card data (through the download manager). Then, can you apply the update to the SD card?

Success! I updated the SD card to version 11.0 and it works in the GLC!
Thank you, Waylo for your encouragement. Looking closer, I had NOT increased the free space on my PC's hard drive.. After I did so, yes, the MB Download Manager program worked (slowly). I did use it to back up the old map to my PC and then downloaded the current map.
My understanding is that I won't be able to update 60 days after I first installed the SD card. Although I doubt a new map will be available, I plan to check in about 50 days.

I just picked up my 2018 GLC 300with a 6/2017 build date, does anyone know the part# for the SD card. I am not sure if I should get the 2017 GLC or the 2018 and I don't see the cut off dates on Amazon.
Any help would be appreciated.
