GLC43 Build

Just wanted to post up my potential GLC43 build as a new member. Have always been a Bimmer guy and thought my next car would be an M2 or M3, but have really fallen for this MB. Here goes...

GLC43 Base Price with Transport Charge: $55,825
Black (non-metallic): 040
Leather (Black w/red stitching and black seatbelts: 241 ($1900)
Natural Grain Black Ash Wood Trim: 736 ($160)
AMG Twin 5-spoke 21" wheels w/black accents: R01 ($1000)
Premium 2 Option Package: P02 ($2350)
Burmester Surround Sound System: 810 ($850)
Heated/Ventilated Front Seats: 401 ($450)
Panorama Roof: 413 ($1480)
LED Headlamps: 632 ($850)
Heated Rear Seats: 872 ($620)
AMG Night Package: 521 ($200)
TOTAL MSRP with all options: $65,685

I'll more than likely do a 36 month/12k mile lease with little to nothing down and do the full MSD's for money factor buydown. Looks like Feb numbers are 55% residual and .0014 money factor. Base acquisition fee is $795. Also, highly considering European Delivery and looks like the MB ED is better than the BMW one, which is nice. Better half also has a corporate account number for some kind of discount with MB, too. Will start the "dealer dance" tomorrow.

Chrisk03,
you build almost the same with me. I think I'm in your position like you. Big fan of BMW for so long. Planing on next X3. but after drive my wife X5 F15 for a year. I have no faith that BMW can make a SUV that I will like. please share with us about how the lease negotiation go. I had lease BMW for many times and always put MSDs. also, I always lease a BMW through bimmerfest sponsors member.
good luck!

Hey Paul, good taste! Yeah, thought about waiting for the upcoming X3M, but I just like the GLC43 that much and X3M isn't due until 2018...I'm also a bimmerfest member. Got a recommendation here for a sales rep that supposedly is awesome for ED, so will probably reach out to him to get things started and then check a few Philly area dealers. Not expecting much from the locals, as already dealt with a couple of them. Ughhh...

Good luck with the dealer dance. My GLC43 options spec is very close to yours.
- also black inside and out (no red stitching)
- 21" rims but not the black accents
- pano roof
- no LED, heated rear seats or night package (I'm not a fan)
- I also got the advanced parking package. Loved it on an E I rented - seeing 360 when you park and the joy of letting the car park itself is super cool.

My car is offloaded from the boat in Long Beach on Monday; dealer estimates I'll have it by Sunday!

Good luck with the dealer dance. If you're considering Euro delivery (I did the BMW one which is now only 5% discount) try Herbert Hemmer in Escondido - hhaemmer@mbescondido.com. He's been making noises as if he can offer better than 7% on ED.

Good luck with the build and please let us know how it goes. I live in AZ and am trying to do a similar build with package 3 and saddle interior. I can't do Euro delivery and am being told it may be June until I can place my order locally.

Congrats on your car! Yeah, I may leave out the night package as like the contrast of the chrome, but back and forth on it. Have to have the LED's and the heated rear seats are a nicety that isn't too expensive, so going with it, in case I keep the 43 after lease end. It gets a little chilly in the Northeast...even though I won't be sitting in the rear.

We'll see how it goes.

Thanks and good luck on your build as well! I'm not in a big hurry, so if I have to wait or can't get what I'm looking for, I may have to push things back a bit.

Did those of you who bought/leased, did you submit to MB Financial ahead of time for approval or wait? I'm thinking it's probably better to do ahead of time online, so the dealer knows you are serious. I also have Penfed I can use, as well. Thanks!

15 Tesla Model S
Surprising to see people who like BMWs liking the GLC43. Just drove one today and found it to be lacking in terms of driving dynamics. My summary would be that it's a faster GLC300 but not sporty.

The suspension is overly soft even on sport mode. I drove through some uneven roads that are undergoing construction and the car felt overly bouncy. I drive a Tesla Model S with standard suspension through the same road on my way to the dealership and my car feels so much more planted and no less comfortable. Basically the GLC43 felt bouncy/boaty/floaty. On normal mode, the acceleration is pretty tame, similar to a C300 I would say. On sport, it's faster but the transmission seems to be searching for gears, with some abrupt accelerations at both low and mid speeds that you don't feel on say a Porsche with pdk.

Maybe I am just asking too much from a SUV but I have driven the Macan several times and the Macan feels much better dynamically compared to the GLC43. No floatiness whatsoever and generally in the right gear. The Merc is arguably more comfortable and definitely has more rear seat room and better rear seats. A better family car probably.

No reason to do a credit app up front, just wait or you'll end up doing it again later when the vehicle arrives. You would have two inquiries for one transaction on your credit, unnecessary.

White raven - Just curious. Were you looking to buy a new small SUV and joined the GLC group as a research tool for your final choice of vehicle? If so, it seems safe to say that it sounds like you've ruled the '43 out. Have you made a decision yet?

Why? I feel like BMW's driving dynamics have gone down over the last few years, except for maybe M cars, especially with the horrible RFT's they use on their vehicles.

Maybe we drove two different cars, but I thought the GLC43 felt pretty well planted for an SUV, even moreso in Sport+. I didn't spend a ton of time on the test drive, but I did hit some pretty good roads in my area for spirited driving. Comfort was...comfortable, but didn't seem floaty to me and the only issue I recall was a somewhat hard downshift of the trans in Sport+ when slowing down. I didn't go crazy as the vehicle only had 17 miles on it, so hard to get a full reading.

That said, I think most of the reviews I've read give it pretty good marks, albeit, usually not better than the Porsche with respect to suspension or PDK on a track. But, I won't be going that route with whatever I purchase, so... Overall, however, it checks enough boxes for me to pull me away from the M2 or M3, which is what I was seriously considering, as well. Admittedly, room does play a relatively big part in the decision, also.
