Replace windshield or not

i have 3 "twin" chips on the windshield. Called up my insurance and local glass shop. One of these twin chips are right in the light of sight, so they agreed to replace the windshield if I elect to.

I am hesitant about replacing -- 1. it may increase my insurance premium, 2. I do not trust the glass shop to take apart the from of the car and be meticulous about not causing any scratches etc. Plus it is acoustic glass.

(Prev experience with glass replace on my X3 : no leaks, but the trim on a-pillar would no longer fully along with the hood after the replacement, and the rubber sill around the windshield were caught under the windshield at two places .......)

Any advises? Or should I rasin it up and try not to notice it while driving?

If it's in the line of sight it's in your best interest to replace it for safety and eye strain considerations. There are however drawbacks as you have pointed out. It's up to you. Will your insurance cover replacement by the dealer itself/affiliated glass shop? You could ask the dealer if they have a preferred shop they send stuff to.

For these situations here in Spain the insurance will cover a professional and guaranteed chip repair. It is cheaper for them and you do not have to take your windshield...

Also... you say it is Acoustic? I thought only the front side windows where acoustic if the option was selected. Not the windshield.

1:after about a year of replacing mine, still some crack noise on one side.
2: Wiper blade stopped working properly after replacement, and they don't have a real fix.

It was done at the dealership.

Fix the chips and see if you notice. You probably won't.

If your insurance doesn't cover chip repair then just replace the windshield. Seems pretty obvious, don't it?

I've had windshields replaced on two different vehicles with no issues after the fact. Both were replaced in my driveway or garage.
