steering column makes terrible ratcheting sound
54 weeks in and we still love the vehicle. No problems whatsoever, and then time for Service A. Took it to our local dealer for the service.
So they finally get it finished, I get in and start the vehicle. Then I go to adjust the seat back to my settings. As soon as the steering wheel starts adjusting, there's a terrible ratcheting sound as the steering wheel is trying to move. I stopped it immediately, turn the car off, and head back to find my advisor. He checks it out and says he's never seen anything like it, but I was lucky it broke while at the shop. Seriously, I was lucky?
I questioned him as to what was done with the service and he said everything was done under the hood. They don't even adjust the seats when they move the vehicle. Had to leave the vehicle there.
Later on after a call to the manager, he said they do adjust the seats and this happens all the time.
Sorry for the rant, but has anyone else had this problem?
They showed me the part that was replaced and I asked to keep it. But they wouldn't let me have it.
Anyway, no problems. Except they didn't close the hood all the way, had to pull over a mile down the road.
And still find it a coincidence that all this happened the exact time we were just getting routine service.
