2018 GLC300 4matic SUV
My GLC completed production last week with no status change since. I've been keeping an eye on the port at Uusikaupunki, Finland, near the Valmet facility. Yesterday, the "short sea car carrier" ship Danube Highway appeared in that port. It is now at sea, bound for Bremerhaven.

I assume this is how cars are transported from Valmet in Finland to the MB facility at Bremerhaven port in Germany. If that's correct, my car is likely on that ship. This would put the first batches of Valmet-built cars in Bremerhaven on the 20th. They would then be loaded onto a larger car carrier for the transatlantic crossing.

Thanks Vaboy. I hope you get some info soon, sometimes it is the unknown that is the hardest to deal with.

Over on the EDP forum I see one EDPer's car has been setting at the VPC in Brunswick since June 1st. Hopefully the VPC in Long Beach will process my car faster than that. But I am not planning on seeing my car until August, that way if it shows up at the dealer by the end of July I will be pleasantly surprised and very happy.

Hey Ted, I hope you get your car sooner than August. I know someone who got a 16 GLC on EDP prior to national launch. The car did not get held up. She was the the first on in Dallas to get a GLC. The process for European delivery cars at VPC is a different than a car going from factory to VPC to dealer even if it is a priority 1 car (car sold to a customer). EDPs are handled individually with different paperwork/different customs process. I have seen articles on EDP process. Very interesting.

That's a pretty quick build date. Your time frame is correct going to the west coast.

Valmet GLC Quality vs Bremen

Hell Guys,

Who had GLC made in Valmet. How is the quality so far?

Any comments about how many percentage GLCs have been made in Valment?

Thanks

My Valmet GLC was assembled the first decade of June, part of the initial run of MY2018 vehicles. It arrived in Baltimore July 3 and I took delivery in Denver July 21. Quality is good. I've had two problems but neither had anything to do with where the car was assembled.

Totally guessing but I'd say at least half of the GLCs sold in North America are Valmet units. If you look at any dealer's inventory, a great many of the 2018 models have the Valmet VIN code JV.

I wonder why almost all dealer's inventory models have the Valmet VIN code?
