Running boards on GLC Coupe?

Is it worth getting the running boards on the GLC coupe?

Car doesn't seem that high of the ground like the GLE, and my wife is 5'6" tall so not sure the height should be an issue getting in and out.

Don't buy them for practicality, buy them for looks if you like them.

Do not get them. They just make a mess on your clothes.

Think I will skip them. Not sure about the aesthetics either. Seems like Mercedes only has them on SUV in press materials.

We have running boards on my GLC wagon, they come standard in Oz. Free to remove them at order time ( no discount !). I do not like them from a practical point, dity clothes, wider step to exit and enter. Will cost me around Au$2000 to remove and have plain skirt fitted by dealer. We deleted side steps with my wifes GLC Coupe, best decision, car still looks brilliant, easy to get in and out, no dirt .

Anyone use them for getting bikes off the top rack? Do they work for that?

Not yet but I think it's definitely useful to get access to the roof. The running board is quite sturdy.

Kind of silly, but I bought a $20 folding step stool that I keep in the compartment below the floor in the back. I use it so I can reach the roof when I wash the car. Might be a useful item for getting to the bikes, without needing to spend the money on the running boards or deal with them on a daily basis.

I'm pretty tall so I never use the running boards. My wife does use them on occasion. The best part about the running boards is that they deflect most of the mud splatter on the lower portion of the body panels.

Can I recommend fitting front and rear mud flaps.
When comparing dirt on sides of both GLC's, on with boards, the other plain, hardly and difference in dirt splatter or mud patterns.

With all due respect, we get over twice the rainfall annually here in Portland as you get in Melbourne. The running boards make a substantial difference in the splatter on the lower body panels. In a dryer climate this may not matter much, but for me in my location it is significant.
