GLC
Is ED the most cheapest option?

I am trying to understand the details behind the ED option. Just reading through, it sounds like the most cheapest option.
1. 7% discount
2. No destination fee
3. Maybe additional dealer discount (3 or 4%)

Some questions:
Do I have to go take delivery of the car and drive around? If possible, can i just take it out from factory and drop it off right away.

Does the ED option take longer than custom order?
Can they deliver the car to a dealer nearby?

I am clearly missing something. Kindly, help me understand

You can drop it off right away.
It took 6 for me to get it from Paris (that’s where we dropped it off). Typical time is around 4-6 weeks to the East Coast. So I would assume it’s the same time as a custom order

I placed the order at a dealer in CA (he’s awesome, most knowledgeable dealer on ED) and had it delivered to a local dealer in NY

If your goal is to get the best deal, then no -- you can get better deals within the U.S. I got 10% off in Boston area by multiple dealers, and was even offered 13% off by a separate dealer though not sure how real that deal was since it was after I had already signed the papers.

However, for the experience, and if you're planning a trip to Europe anyway, I'd day ED is definitely worth it ... I definitely will look into that for my next MB.

BMW X3, Mercedes GLC300 (EDP)
It is not difficult to do the math.

For example, on a $50000 EDP car:
  • 7% off,
  • 3% additional discount negotiated
  • = 10% off or $5000 off the price.
  • - $995 destination charge or another 2% off the price.
  • For a total of %12 off or $6000 dollars off the price.

Next add your costs, at the very least you will need a round trip plane ticket to Stuttgart. For easy math, say the plane ticket costs $1000, so now the cost savings is back to 10% or $5000.

Many people on this board say they get 10% off a custom order without doing an EDP, so depending on the price you negotiate, the final cost is the same.

A gaggle of MB's
Depending on your planned annual mileage - and/or planned drive-time life - if you will overdrive the 4yr/50K either by miles or time - then the right Certified Pre-Owned GLC could be "cheaper" with the included CPO warranty - "most" dealers will have GLC loaners coming off to retail soon.

Just saying...
