Acoustic Glass Windshield Repairable?
A jerky Durango driver passed me today and over-corrected when they merged back and hit the gravel shoulder. They kicked up a ton of gravel and a big stone hit the acoustic windshield on my '17 GLC 300 with 1K miles on it. The chip is a bit bigger than a quarter and seems to be growing. I filed a claim and I know my insurer will try to get Auto Glass Specialists to try and repair it. Is repairing these types of windshield legit? Am I going to lose acoustic capabilities if they do?

Don't know about your insurer, but State Farm gives you the choice of paying the deductible for replacement or getting a repair for free. I agree it sounds like you have a replacement situation anyway. My most recent chip was directly in my line of sight which was a no questions replacement even though it was considered repairable.

"Acoustic " just means it is thicker than other glass from MB. Suitable damage can be repaired just like any other windshield.

Just one more comment. YMMV, but my experience with repairs to windshield chips is they were never satisfactory and I have always ended up getting a replacement.

MY18 Heat absorbing Windshield - PAF Package
I have the Acoustic Comfort Package on my MY18 E300. I recently had to have the windshield replaced thanks to a large rock. My dealer insured me-actually the parts manager-that the replacement windshield which they had to order was the heat absorbing windshield that was original equipment on my car. The part number for the replacement windshield is 213-670-09-01 Can anyone verify that this is indeed the heat absorbing membrane in the windshield that was part of the Acoustic Comfort Package (order Code PAF). I ask because on a recent road trip on a sunny day since the windshield was replaced I noticed feeling more heat on me than on similar trips before the OEM windshield had an intimate encounter with a rock. Thanks. BTY the code that's on the new windshield in the lower left hand corner is attached if this helps. Thanks

I'm having the same concerns. The dealer replaced the acoustic comfort package windshield, but it no longer has the purple-ish hue. Do all the acoustic comfort package windshields have the purple hue similar to the S class windshield? I have the 2019 E450 Wagon with Acoustic Comfort Package. See attached photo.
