New car hiccups while at stop.
I just took delivery of my new GLC fully loaded. While at a stop light, the car takes a little jerk, first time it happened I thought car behind me had nudged me. Very disconcerning. Has anyone experienced this?

Some folks set set up a Dynamic driving mode with the Stop/Start function turned off. Only problem is, I believe you have to select your custom driving mode each time you start your car. May as well just turn the button off unless you really want to use a customized driving mode.
If if I forget to turn it off, I’m reminded fairly quickly when I stop and feel the “jerk” you mentioned. Then I remember to punch the button off.

I doubt very much that it is the stop start they are feeling. ..surely it would be obvious to them if was so!!
I have noticed on occasion that just after I come to a stop there is a very slight jerk. This is when the gearbox shifts into 1st gear after coming to a stop in 2nd. Don't notice it every time and it is only barely noticeable.

It's been my experience with several cars that jerky engagement of the stop/start is more likely when the car is new. We noticed a more seamless feel after the cars had about 1500 miles. The problem can also be a symptom of variations in fuel quality, as lower quality fuels and fuels with higher ethanol content lead to harder starting. Be sure to run a quality fuel and select the proper grade, which is premium rated at 91 octane or higher. Also, keep in mind that you can turn off the AC compressor in mild weather, if you like, and this will prevent re-starts while at a standstill. The engine will remain off for up to several minutes and will re-start only when you lift your foot off the brake pedal.
Of course you can also turn the stop/start function off if you don't mind the MPG impact.
