SMS reception question
So although I have figured out how to get COMAND to display a received text message from my iphone 6, should it not also alert me that a message has been received? It doesn't seem to be the case and I think it's only the phone that beeps. Do I need to enable a particular setting on COMAND?

How do you get the text messages to show in the comand. I have a iPhone 7 and text messages are empty. Contacts are downloaded.

I think it's crucial that on your phone, you have to go to Settings/Bluetooth/MB bluetooth and click on the "i" on the right. Then you need to enable "Show Notifications".

This is the very least that I'd expect. Does the envelope icon appear no matter what you have displayed at the time? I've been trying to test this and I'm not sure that COMAND beeps - all I seem to hear is the warning on the phone. And I only see the icon if I go looking for it, which to me is absurd. If the telephone interface can tell me I have a call, then the same should happen on receipt of a text. Or perhaps there is (another!) setting hidden away that needs tweaking?

the SMS beep does actually seem not as loud as it used to. not that it was ever very loud
let me also clarify that it does not seem to work perfectly very time. sometimes my phone beeps with a text and the car doesnt
or they both beep with a text and car shopws no text
i did change my texting app (on android) from the default one to another and it seems that it worked better with the default one. i am going to switch back at some poiint and asses further
so anyone having issues may want to change your texting app to see if that helps

Making progress. Driving with the radio on this AM and heard a double beep. Looked at the screen and a text envelope appeared at the top center. Was able to go to phone screen read text and later found it in the text folder. Guess all is working.

That sounds like it is working as it should.
One small annoyance is the fact that when your phone connects to the car previously read text messages show as new messages on the car screen.

in the past when i used to get a text message i would go to the messages screen to see the message
it stopped working i disconnected and reconnected, didnt work for a while now seems to work
now when a message comes in i go to message sand then i have to go to folders and inbox to see the message
any idea why there is an extra step and how i would get rid of having to do the extra step?

To read/listen to a text, I hold down the talk button (where you access directions, etc) for several seconds. SIRI comes on and I say read new text message. She reads the message aloud and gives me the option to reply verbally.
