SERVICE A COST???
My 2018 GLC COUPE is nearing the 10,000 mile service mark. I’m curious on Dealership cost for the first service, service A I believe? Recommended to go to the dealership? Or money better spent somewhere else?

you can usually find Benz dealers coupons around $130 for service A. That's a good price for synthetic. Valvoline would charge over $100 for that alone.
Benz also refills all fluids, etc, and since you have a warranty, why not have them inspect.

(yes i know A is basically an oil change... with a bunch of checks and new crummy wipers)
as the maintenance package is around 1200 for a-b-a I'm assuming the b is a lot more?

Yes B is a lot more than A. I think A is around $200-300 (depending on where you live) and you can get coupons. I was quoted $600-800 for B but I live in an area with only one MB dealership. I like taking my cars to the MB dealership as they check the entire vehicle as well as doing the oil change. They rotate tires, replace wipers and fluids, check breaks, etc. Whatever you ask them to do. I got the 2 year PPM package for dealership price this year and in 2015, the 3-year PPM plan cost me $995. You should research dealership pricing on the services.
Are you planning to keep the car for more than 3 years?

Probably depends on where you are. In Chicago metro area Service A is about $180, Service B just adds brake service and is around $300-350. Service A is a basic oil change so you make up your mind if the dealer is worth it. I find if I can get a 10-15% of coupon, taking it to the dealer and getting a loaner is worth it for me because I can go back and bill time instead of sitting there. Some dealers will give you wipers at these services, most will wash your car and vacuum out the interior as well. Lastly - this is usually the time I bring in the these things are broken list (if thing broken isn't something dangerous or preventing driving). So logos falling off, knob loose, rattling. It's my while I'm at it visit...

All , thanks for thr replies. The warranty angle completely escaped me. I suppose because I was so focused on the dealership Price Gouging me.. i hate dealership service departments because they’re a profit center for dealerships. I suppose if i hate dealership service depts, I probably shouldn't have brought a 2018 fine piece of German engineering huh? Dealership it is... any idea where I can find coupons? Dealers website doesnt have any listed. Again, thanks for the replies.

Call up your service department and ask them what specials they are running. Call other MB dealerships in your area and ask them as well. If another dealer is running a service special, ask your service dept. to price match or honor the coupon. Where I live they only offer $25 off A so it helps to live in a bigger city with more options. Also google around. You can save a lot by going to a certified Mercedes shop. I prefer getting a loaner from MB though.
If you bought the vehicle and plan on keeping it more than 4 years, pay for the A Service out of pocket. Then see if you can buy the 3-year plan at a discount. That should cover you for 4 years and save you some money in the long run.

In So.Cal. service A is usually $200 and B around $500. So with coupons: A around $150 and B around $400.
I take it to the dealer because they also do other things, like the recent safety belt recall, or you can get new whippers if too noisy, etc.
I think the Benz service coupon prices are very good. I paid at least that for my Acura RDX service!

i bought the service package, probably just do oil changes after the 3 services I'm assuming that all i need to do to keep warranty valid (I hope)

My A service was $185 plus $11 for washer fluid. After tax and shop supply charge it was $220. The work included an oil change, tire rotation, new wipers, bunch of checks, and a proper detailing. Add the value of a documented service history and I see this as a bargain.
Both of my brothers are in the car business, and I worked with them for several years. A righteously followed dealer service history is literally the first thing we check for.

Keep in mind, you can do your own, have an indy shop do it and still be in warranty. You just need to keep receipts that it was done to prove it should that come up as a cause.
That being said, doing a brake flush isn't for the faint of heart. With an ABS system, you should use the computer the shop has to pulse the ABS while purging to get all the air out. The days of pumping a brake pedal and letting fluid come out at each wheel are long behind us. Many claim you can use a power bleeder (one that sucks the fluid)... but after you shell out $150 for one, what's the point? Plus what is your time worth?

I’m not opposed to DIY oil changes or independent shops, but I know this: We don’t buy pre-owned high-end cars that lack a dealer service history. Those of you who have been around the Mercedes brand for a long time remember how it used to be critical to have that MB maintenance book with the stamps in it, and how buyers would ask if you had it before they’d agree to come look at the car. These days it’s all on Carfax.
My personal situation is that I plan to sell mine in a few years and I want to get top dollar. I’ve been down this road many times and I’ve learned that the best way to do that is to present the car as a perfect, no-excuses proposition. YMMV

Just had A service today. I had bought the maintenance package which they could bundle into the lease and therefore I only paid based on the 59% residual. Advisor told me it would have been in the area of $200 plus taxes.
Nice that they also replaced all wiper blades.
Additionally, there was a recall on a steering column strap as well as an engine module software update.
My dealer shoots a video of the service or, in the case of today's service, a video of the undercarriage showing brakes, tire tread and ruling out any leaks. Really cool.

Mine does the video too. It’s nice to actually see them pulling the wheels and cleaning/inspecting/lubricating everything as needed.
