2019 glc 300 4matic
Navigation or apple play?

Just curious peoples experiences with both? We went with apple play bc we didn’t want all the upgrades safety features that require nav and both love Apple products

Does the phone need to be plugged in to the USB port for Carplay?

I actually love both...I go with Appleplay a little more, because my car volume won't fade properly during navigation announcements, whereas Carplay does. ....and yes, I have the proper audio fadeout checked off in my sound setting.

As of now, yes it does. It is not wireless...looking for that in the next I-phone OS update.

I think the wireless functionality of the CarPlay is only matter if the vehicle's hardware supports the system. My BMW had wireless CarPlay since day 1 back in iOS11, but my parent's VW Atlas was all USB CarPlay since iOS11 without any changes when upgraded to iOS12.

My MB doesn't have CarPlay so I cannot fully confirm that in this case.
