what "code" is my car
I have a UK spec Dec 2017 GLC 250D AMG line.......what "code" is that car - e.g. W163, X156 etc....my dealer says he doesn't understand what information I am asking for and is not familiar with those type of codes(!!)

what exactly ARE those codes called ?

could it be X253 ? (as in the title of this forum)

what does the code designate ?

Yes, X253 for a GLC. The code designates the platform. The platform code changes with each major update. Go to the main forums page on this site, and you will see sections of the site assigned to various platform codes. For example, W166 is a 2011-2019 ML (to 2015) and GLE (from 2016).
