The only way to get 20" wheels with all-season tires is with staggered setup???

Trying to place an order for a '20 GLC 300 AMG line and it seems the only way to get the 20" wheels with all-season tires is with a staggered setup. According the the guide, the 20" AMG Y 5 spoke, non-staggered wheels (RTW) come with high performance 255/45/R20 tires, while the more aggressive staggered wheels (RZX) come with an all-season 285/40/R20 rear and 255/45/R20 front. Where's the logic here? I do want the all-season tires but why is MB forcing a staggered setup, which severely limits the tire selection and increases the cost? The guide also seems to improperly list the rear wheel width of the staggered setup at 8.5" (same as front). Dealer is clueless as well.

GLC43 AMG
I searched all over for all season tires for my 20 inch staggered 43. Good year is the only tire maker in the WORLD that make rear tires with that size in all season. So one choice only.

Well, it makes more sense for the 43 than regular 300 to have a staggered setup. It just boggles my mind that the staggered setup comes with A/S tires and the non-staggered 255 all around with high performance summers. Absolutely no logic there. What's more interesting, the regular (non AMG line) car has A/S tires on the 20" wheels. Why couldn't they just put the same tires on the AMG line. It's just a styling package, no performance advantage for the 300. If I order the car with the staggered A/S setup, I will be limited to expensive, sub $500 Good Year replacements. If I order with the 255 summers, I would have to spend another $1k to replace the summers with A/S or invest in a dedicated set of winters.

Yes in 20” Goodyear Eagle Sports M&S are made in staggered size- being run flats.

Michelin also make same tyre sizes with Latitude Sport 3 for staggered setup with 20” rims. These are normal summer tyres, conventional - not all season and not run flats either.

We had them on our Coupe before being changed over to the All Season Goodyears. The Michelin were the OEM tyre for the Coupe with 20” staggered rims.

Good luck hunting !!
