Wheel / Snow Tire Size Fitment

Just wanted to check on fit here.

I have a 2016 GLC 300 4Matic with Sport Package (so 19" wheels) The AMG Wheels are 19j8 5x112 with 38 offset

I have been looking for a cheaper set of rims for winter / snow tires and found a gently used set off an Audi Q5 that looks like is 19j8 5x112 but 35 offset and they have 235/55R19 Snow tires on them.

If I am understanding correctly, the smaller offset means that the rim mount is closer to the hub/centerline so wondering if I may have clearance / rubbing, especially with the larger front calipers. Potentially I think I could get spacers as well.

Any thoughts or comments? Thanks

Well actually it is the opposite - the smaller offset means a wheel is further from suspension and is closer to fender's edge than a wheel with higher offset. By adding spacers one is actually reducing offset even more. If wheels have higher offset than stock, then spacers are required. In this case, they are not as both GLC300 and Q5 OEM wheels use about the same offsets. Also keep in mind that while both use 14x1.5 bolts, MB uses R14 ball seat while Audi R13 ball seat so with Audi wheels Audi bolts must be used. Having said that, Q5 wheels (19" or larger) should fit GLC300 without issues (Audi uses larger bevel cutout so make sure there's enough lip on GLC to seat Audi wheel, for the same reason OEM GLC wheel will not fit Q5 correctly because of much more pronounced bevel on Audi's hub).

Check the TireRack.

Great info and appreciated. I had not known about the difference in the bolts - still getting used to that coming from lug nuts.

Tacking onto this thread. I've been scouring Kijii for used Winter rims and tires for the GLC but not seeing many ads (probably cause most folks are still driving them). I do however see lots of rims/tires that were previously used on the GLK's... They are typically sized 235/60/17 or 235/55/18. Will these fit the GLC (I currently have 235/55/R19 all seasons on).

I'm also subscribing to this thread. Once the Pirelli's (235/55/19 RFTs) are gone, I'll be switching to dedicated summer/winter sets. What winter tires are you looking into?

I did pick up a set of rims / used snows locally for an o.k. price, but now deciding on if I can really get a season out of the snows (Pirelli Scopion Ice) . One I had not noticed is a little more worn that I would like, and with AWD, it is better to have all the tires line up wear wise. Was debating just doing a pair, but in the long run, that is probably penny wise / pound foolish.

Normally I just pick up Blizzaks though my last pair in the Infiniti was Michelin X-Ice.

Been seeing some good reviews on the Continental VikingContact 7 - Most US reviews look like fluff, but one other forum pointed to a Russian test site that was favorable and seems like they are known for more in depth tests. https://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forum...s-to-n-america

I had seen good things on the Goodyear IceGuard 2, but those seem Euro only.

Seems like many here like the Conti CrossContact for relplacing the Pirelli run flats, so that may have me leaning towards Conti - Looks like only semi-nock against the Viking7 is a little lower hydropplane / wet braking, but in terms of snow and ice , seems to be 1 or 2 across the board
