Gap under steering column

Has anyone noticed a cold air draft from the 2-3 inch gap under the steering column? Dealer told me it's the design and to stuff it full of rags and turn up the heat. I bought the car 3 months brand new and it's a 2019.

I've never noticed that in any car.

The gap is across all GLCs but I haven't noticed a cold air draft coming through it.

Not an issue on our 2019, but if any aftermarket electrical gadgets/options were put in the vehicle it is possible a hole was made for passing wires thru the firewall and not completely sealed. A very small opening can provide a very cold draft when moving down the road.
