Screen protector for the center control touch screen

So my 2020 center control has a ton of fingerprints so I decided to see if anyone carried glass screen protector like the ones for your phone. Yup, they sure make them out of China. Ordered one from Amazon $11. What do you guys think?

For some reason finger oil/fingerprints don’t smudge the screen protector as much. So that helped.

There is about a 2 mm boarder/gap around the glass.

Good question. I noticed the prints the day I took a test drive. The GLC has a lot of improvements but that’s not one of them.

I was asking if the screen protector added glare or reflections compared to stock.

I know what you were asking. I’m ordering 1 from Amazon. What’s shown is for a “C” class and manufacturer YeePin. I found 1 that comes from a distributer Flyingchan. Let you know how it goes.

Hmmm.. I don’t think so, rather, can’t quite remember how it was to tell if there is a difference in terms of glare.

Let us know if the fit is similar to the one I ordered from YeePin. I saw I think around 4 sellers on Amazon with different brand and on the high end was $23. I decided to go with the cheapest suspecting they all come from the same manufacturer.

Here is the trick I learned years ago in terms of installing screen protectors when I watched cell phone vendors overseas:

1st step Prior to peeling off the backing cover/sticker; place and align the screen protector exactly how it would look or be placed on the screen. Tape one edge down with scotch tape. In this case, the top edge. i would suggest using at least 3 strips and taping it vertically (front to back) to hold the screen protector in place. This really is the trick.

Flip the protector over the top. Now do your alcohol wipe and clean. Wait for a few sec to let the dust particles settle. Then use the stickers provided to remove them. (The cellphone folks overseas would use packaging tape and tape over the entire surface- I find, at least the packaging tape I’ve used in the US, too thick to be effective- that I almost had to squeege the tape)

Peel the backing off and flip the screen back over. And since the edge is still taped down, the screen just falls back to exactly Ho you had placed the screen previously.

This screen protector kit comes with a suction cup since the screen is so large to help you place the screen protector. If you use the edge taping/alignment trick, you don’t need bother with that suction cup.

So I ordered the $21.99 version from Amazon. I followed lay3r3’s instructions the only difference is the only tape I had was painters tape. It worked but the wait of the protector tended to pull away from the tape. So I think a stickier tape would be easier.

The finger prints seemed to gone. But the glare is still there although it’s states the protector is anti-glare. The screen is now protected from scratching. Here are some pictures of my install. I did turn the screen off so I had a black screen to work with. Please Note - You can see the reflection of the seat in some pictures. This the camera picking up the seat but sitting in the car you don’t see the seat as a reflection on the screen.

Comes a sturdy box

Protector was well protected!!

Turned off screen so it remained black.

Used box in back of screen to help support it

Tapped in place

@DESAL Nice job! Yes! the tape does peel away from the screen protector. I had it taped horizontally originality and it kept peeling away and was driving me nuts! I then used much much longer 3 strips of tape (almost to the bottom) hoping the screen wouldn't peel away when I flipped it back... that was a pia.

Do you also have the 2mm gap surrounding the protector?

Here are the pics of the 4 corners of the display. Not quite centered but close. I'm quite happy with the whole installation.

Amazon Amazon

Hope that link works. I got mine on Amazon. They are on EBay too. The manufacture was Flyingchan. Make sure the protector is made for your model. I almost bought a E300 instead of a GLC300.

Still pleased with the install. Waiting for the FL sun and 100 + temperatures inside the car. Don’t think it will be a problem
