Safe to Disconnect Battery?

Hello,
I will be installing the illuminated star and want to disconnect the battery by removing the negative battery cable. My concern is that it will mess with the computers and even trigger trouble codes if i were to do this. Is this something I need to worry about? Or is this just a myth?
Thanks.

Just a myth, no problem in removing the negative. It's the correct thing to do when messing with the electrics on the car.

It's not an issue. In fact, most car detail shops will disconnect the battery prior to removing the seats for cleaning specifically so it does NOT trip any sensor or ECU problems. So go ahead and disconnect your negative cable in good health.
