2020 GLC 300
Delivery Time for GLC

Hello,
First posting in the forum. I am interested in upgrading from my current 2018 C 300 to a new GLC 300. I am looking for certain specifications in terms of color and other options that i cant find in any dealer in my state. So, I am thinking of ordering through Mercedes Benz dealer in my area.
Anyone have some insights on the production and delivery timelines for GLC 300? Specifically, with the current COVID situation.

A gaggle of MB's
You must be very patient during this time to "order" any vehicle - all auto/truck factories were closed from end March thru until May - and those same factories are having a slow re-start since Supply Chain (the parts they need to assemble a vehicle) Supply Chain is still disrupted and you need ALL the parts on hand to assemble 1 vehicle.

At this point - you can either find a GLC300 closest to what you want - the Internet can be a great aid in doing this - and the ONLY difference between securing a Real MB Now at a remote dealer is simply a matter of transportation.

If you were "ordering now" then I would suggest you order a 2021 which "should be" delivered in the Fall

If you can't wait then Search for the closest match now - where ever that might be - or if it exists in Loaner Service some where so you can take advantage off added Demo Discount + Qualifies for New Car Lease/Finance + has added 1Yr Mercedes Unlimited Mileage CPO warranty on top of the remaining new car warranty.

Dealer's are releasing fewer Demo Loaners - holding them longer - but will release when asked.

I doubt any honest dealer would take an order right now. Mercedes factories in Western Europe (where GLC is assembled) are closed — likely through October.

some models are being made like the GLB because it is made in Mexico. But the GLC production is completely halted.

i doubt the 2021 model year will even exist or if it does, in name only. Most American car companies are in same boat like Chevy who has paused redesign execution of its Equinox from releasing this September to releasing sometime in 2021 for the 2022 model year.

most car companies aren’t selling anything anyway so even if factories can reopen, the push to make a car is a little economically backwards.

Thank you, fabbrisd1. What you are saying make sense. I started the search because my local MB dealer, who leased me my current C300, contacted me regarding ending the lease early and getting me into a new C300. But actually, I can wait as my lease is up in five months.

Thank you, tcsting. Actually, a lot of dealers that i contacted are welling to make the order. Most of them said, it will be here in 3 months, which I doubted. That is why I came here to ask folks for their opinion

I ordered a GLC with a build slot of second week of March, the week the Bremen/C class factory closed. A search shows the factory is back in production as of a couple of weeks ago which my dealer has confirmed. This past weekend the dealer confirmed (weakly) that the car is "in production" but all he said is "about 4 weeks". Why they won't look at their factory computer and give a definitive answer is disappointing. They can see if the car is built, awaiting shipment, on the ship, etc, but getting a firm answer has not been forthcoming. In your situation, my bet is you will likely be looking at a 2021 order unless some other order slots have opened up.

Packin4, my local dealer placed my name in an order that is already placed back in January and still have B01 status and havent moved due to COVID. The Manager changed the order to my specifications and submitted it.
Since I have all the time and not in rush, I thought why not. By the time my lease is up or even before, if the order is in progress (meaning moved to different status), i can wait to get it. if not, i will search for the best match.

In the UK and was expecting delivery of a white 300d in May, contacted the dealer in April who said sometime in August. Checked again in May and they said Feb21!!.....
Ok, maybe we could wait, but our previous car had been picked up so we were nearly car less if it wasn't for our daughter lending us hers (Yes but I'm now paying the monthy fee )

They then phoned back in the afternoon to say they had found another 300d but with metallic diamond white and they would throw it in at no cost. Wife phoned up next day to say yes we will have it and it had gone, they hadn't reserved it as they didnt think it would go as only 3 dealerships open...Kept calm...
Couple of days later they found a 300 but petrol, magnetic white...said yes!! ..... That was 2 weeks ago and may be ready next week.......
Ok I wanted Diesel...but cheaper, free magnetic paint and as a goodwill gesture throwing in a boot liner, load sill protector, Mercedes Benz umbrella and a coffee thermos for me and the wife..............I was sold on the coffe thermos.

Dealership to be fair have been really good and excellent service

At this point, nobody knows really which cars are being built and at what rate they are coming out. As has previously been reported around these forums, MB has recently cancelled many orders that were placed before the COVID crisis, and affected customers have been informed. Various models were affected by the cancellations. The biggest problem as mentioned above is restarting the external supply chain. I have contacts in Germany to the automobile industry and what I'm hearing is that they have major difficulties getting the parts they need to build entire cars. The factories have resumed mostly, but they are running at very low capacity and the workers are only working half-time or less.

There are probably plenty of dealers that are willing to take your order, but that doesn't mean the factory is gonna pick it up. The dealerships need an actual allocation for the factory to pick up an order, and the allocations are scarce at the moment. MBFS is offering lease extensions, which might be something you wanna look into. The fact that your lease is up in five months isn't much of an issue if you decide to wait for a new car. In five months, things might also be a lot clearer than they are now.

I just placed the order and in the meantime not waiving any other option. there are some close match to what i am looking for out there. my plan is to wait until, perhaps, July/August when most dealers have very good incentives to sell. By that time, if my order is not moving, i will jump into one of these close matches.

I would not wait to buy if the goal is to get a good deal. With Mercedes production volume stopped until likely late 2020– what is on a dealer lot today may be all the dealer gets till Christmas

they won’t sell the last GLCs at a discount if they have some of the few new GLCs left in the area

i called and made visits to few dealers, ALL are welling to provide 10-12% reduction of MSRP. In line with what you mentioned, no new cars, in any model, have been added to the lot for quite some time, and sales are very slow due to the uncertainty we are current living.

I am still in communications with them. If I get 15%, I will make the deal.
