Roof rack?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a roof rack? The oem are great, but don’t want to pay 400 either.

Thule aero bars
Once the bars & foot pack are bought they can be interchanged between vehicles with reduced expense (buying vehicle specific foot packs)

They all have wind noise, it’s how it is.

Placing the crossbars as far rearward as possible and using a deflector/fairing are ways to minimize wind noise.

I regularly load two adult size bikes on my GLE roof using the Thule system and the wind noise is barely noticeable. It is a whooshing sound.

Vehicle size matters. The GLE has a tall roof and is a longish vehicle. This means the actual rack and bike hardware is far from one’s ears. This would be very different on, for example, a CLA or GLA. A GLC will have a bit more perceptible wind noise than a GLE but less than a CLA.

Whistling, for example, can be mitigated by the suggestions above and by securing any loose small items like straps, wires, etc.

There is no roof rack system that has zero additional sound, or so-called “wind noise”. It’s the nature of the beast.
