Size of inductive wireless charging mat?

I'm curious what the exact size of the wireless charging mat is in the 2020 GLC 300 SUV. It fits my iPhone 11 Pro Max with protective case fine with a little extra room.

Just wondering if I upgrade to iPhone 12 Pro Max if I will have enough room - as it has a 6.7" display, versus 6.5" display I have currently.

iPhone 11 Pro Max dimensions: 6.22 x 3.06 x 0.32 in.
iPhone 12 Pro Max dimensions: 6.33 x 3.07 x 0.29 in.

I measured the interior dimensions of the charging mat and got ~ 3.5" width by 5 3/4" length.

Qi mat

The iPhone 12 Pro Max features a 6.7-inch screen, and it's roughly the same size as the previous 6.5-inch iPhone 11 Pro Max. It's naturally
the biggest device in the lineup and is best used with two hands, measuring 6.33 x 3.07 x 0.29 inches and weighing 8.03 ounces.

Literally I think the 12 Pro Max is 0.11' longer than the 11 Pro Max and I think it would fit on the inductive wireless charging mat.

not OCD!

I think as long as new iphone 12 pro max can sit flat on the mat, then it is okay. The charging component is not the mat itself, it is something under the mat. I imagine it is a circle thing in the middle but smaller than the mat.

Btw, the iphone 12 max is not available yet until next month.

Aware - pre-order not until 11/6. Probably not upgrading only camera enhancements and computational photography garner my interest. 5G is kind of a fairy tale at ths point. I think the iPhone 12 Pro Max would barely fit if at all with a case for wireless charging.

One thing that i have heard from a guy with an Audi that has wireless charging is that he has a 12 pro and can't get it to charge using the charging mat although his 11 Pro Max charges fine. He thinks it has something to do with MagSafe

Good point - from what I read the MagSafe magnets are weak and will mar back of phone or case attaching & removing. MagSafe phones probably would interfere with wireless charging unless buying the Apple accessories. I decided to hold off until Sep. 2021 to replace my iPhone 11 Pro Max.

I'm also buying a 12 Pro Max and was wondering if it would fit, so I bought a case from a third-party vendor even though I don't have my phone yet, and it *just* fits. So I'm confident I'll be good to go. However, one caveat - I have a GLC AMG 43. It's probably the same size charging mat, but I can't confirm.

Like I said, I ordered a case for the 12 pro max and it fits fine. It just happens to be a slim fit case (https://www.totalleecase.com/product...32511756992574). As for whether someone has the phone yet, no one does - it doesn't come out for four more days. Since you already ordered it, stop stressing because there's nothing you can do about it. Besides, you shouldn't buy a phone based on whether it fits in your car's charging mat. That's silly.

Thanks for the info, I believe even if it doesn't fit if you plug it in with the USB-C cord it will charge.

Just put my 12 Pro Max in the inductive charger and it barely just fits and it charges without any issues.

I am using the Apple leather MagSafe case. The only issue is getting the phone out. Pinching the sides with your fingers seems the easiest way to do this.

I have a 12 Pro Max and a clear slim case from Totallee (https://www.totalleecase.com/product...32511756992574). With the case on and the rubber mat on the charger the phone only rarely starts charging (I've gotten it to work maybe twice). If I take the rubber mat out it charges just fine. No big deal, as the phone has a case and fits tightly enough that it doesn't rattle without the mat in there.

Figured it would be a snug fit. I use the USB-C to Lightning cable (Paracable Carbon) to charge while driving or using CarPlay.

Nice cable, but I had a 3-footer and it was too long. Bought a 1-footer and it's much easier to tuck away in the center console. And with Car Play I don't need to touch the phone anyway, so three feet isn't needed. But yeah, the 12 Pro Max is a tight squeeze, but honestly it's the same size as my old iPhone 8+ was with its case on.

  • I just got mine a few days ago. It does fit, and I have a case on it also. All good👍

I caved & purchased an iPhone 12 Pro Max. I'm using iPhone 12 Pro Max Leather Case with MagSafe - Saddle Brown.

Fits fine and charges though I rarely use wireless charging while driving.
