He everyone! Newbie here. Could you advise the best way to activate or utilize wireless CarPlay, with no impact on warranty?

That is great question. First of all, I don’t think, or maybe out of my knowledge, that ppl can activate the hypothetical built in wireless module of CarPlay in refreshed-2020 GLC.
I know some folks can get a wireless adapter plugged-in to the USB port. Search in Amazon, you could find some. But I really doubt the stability of the connection. It won’t break any warranty though in this case.

Thank you for your reply! I just saw a post by someone regarding 2020 GLC, and one of the commentators claimed that his 2020 MBUX came equipped with wireless CarPlay, but that MB intentionally blocks it so end user can't activate it. He also claimed that someone in Singapore charges over $3000 to unlock the option. I also saw someone posting links to equipment sold on Amazon, which allegedly allows to project your iPhone to MBUX (wireless). At first, I wanted to post my question there. However, my car being 2021, it's possible that my MBUX is different from 2020 model and what they suggested under 2020 thread won't work on 2021 model.

I don't like wired CarPlay. In fact, sometimes I don't use it because I have to plug it in and the wires must hang in there (or I have to hide the phone inside center console, which is inconvenient if I need a physical access to my phone). MB stated that in 2020 (or 2019) the MBUX would be fully wireless. It's odd that it still isn't. If there is a way to activate the wireless MBUX (and not damage warranty), I will.

Yes, wireless charging pad is redundant if you have to plug in CarPlay...

I am pretty sure the guy from Singapore confirmed he couldn't enable it without MB pushing a firmware update to our vehicles... This is what I determined over the summer -- I think it was ultimately on one of his social media posts..

I don't know that guy from Singapore, but there is a parallel thread in this forum (I think it's currently on page 2 of GLC300 forum), and one of the posters there claims that 2020 GLC300 MBUX is equipped with wireless CarPlay connection. He states that MB intentionally disabled it. Some other user suggests that MB disabled it because it's too slow and has some issues, to which he responds that this is not a case, that it works just fine if enabled, and that there is a guy in Singapore who decodes them for $3000 or so. He then (rightfully) says that he will never pay $3000 to decode something, and I totally agree.

I am sure there must be more reasonable ways than paying $3000 to get this thing working, if it indeed has all it needs to provide wireless CarPlay.
