Got gas Saturday and pop open gas door, hear something fall out thought ice as I live in indiana by chicago. Was single digit temps. Tried putting gas cap on holder and won't stay. Looked on ground and the holder tab is what fell on the ground. Anyone else experience this?

Yes. Emailed service guy said he'll forward to service manager. In the meantime he quoted parts labor. The part itself runs $165.90
Labor to install is about $255.
we've had the engine replaced with a new one coz mercedes can't determine why the engine suddenly sputtered and died. After that the coolant light would come on when driving on highway. Full flush and some adjustments and They finally fixed that. They threw in 3 years maintenance. I feel like our car is a testbed for MB. Maybe need better plastic material thats not as brittle. Think water might have frozen on this tab and when i opened gas door it broke.
If they dont cover that under warranty ask them to work on the labor cost a bit. It takes them literally 30-45 minutes at most to replace that whole housing. It just clips in the corners. They should cover that under warranty. My gas door hinge was cracked and the dealer took care of it.
Nice story... sorry this "happened to you"... new car warranty will handle it... Certified Warranty won't... you might have been bit too aggressive on the "popping" the cover off part
