Windshield wipers again!
I had a 2017 GLC and never had any issue with the windshield wipers.
Upgraded to the 2020 last October and right off the bat I had major issues with them. The passenger side seemed fine, but the drivers side, omg! I was getting a lot of water pooling on the side and being brought back over to my line of sight. The harder it rained the worse it built up, only way to get it to come off was to go around a bend.
I complained to the dealer and they said they found something sticky on my windshield and put wipers on and naturally they charged me $87 for new wipers. There was nothing sticky on my windshield that had nothing to do with the water pooling. But whatever... I took it back again as they were still doing the same thing, they said they put a different wiper on and it would be fine. Well, they ended up doing the same thing and then they not only pulled water back on, they started to skip areas and also they are leaving large streaks which makes visibility at night impossible. During the daytime streaking isnot as noticeable.
Took it back again, and now they are asking if I use automatic car washes! Are we not allowed to use auto car washes? They are blaming road salt, snow, ice etc. I only drive my car a few miles a day and most times it’s not raining or snowing, but when it is I’d like to see out of my windshield. Yes, due to COVID and not driving much, it was August when I had it there last. But, my car mainly sits in a heated garage, it’s not out sitting in inclement Weather.
This to me, is a very dangerous situation. How do I get this dealer to understand and deal with fixing this problem and quite putting the blame on me? I’m to the point I do not want to drive if it’s dark out, raining or snowing.
the second time I was there, the service rep said they have has a lot of complaints but Mercedes do not see this as an issue. I’m at my wits end as I like this vehicle but find it dangerous to drive when conditions aren’t perfect.
Thank you
I was unable to take a video of the streaking as it’s really mostly visible at nite.
The first time I had it there they said they took in their car wash to see what’s happening, naturally it’s worse when you are driving than sitting still.
I don’t think they don’t believe me, I think they just can’t fix it and would prefer to blame me and road salt! We don’t have road salt in the summer so they didn’t use that excuse in August.
I’m really frustrated with this ! To me, it’s a big safety issue
I read another post on this forum that someone did have them replace the windshield.
i guess what I will have to do is respond quicker when I have a problem rather than trying to live thru it and hope it gets better. That way they can’t blame me or the weather for crappy wipers or a poor design of the wipers. I will also have to pray for rain so I can test them quicker
