2018 GLC 300 4matic trailer hitch questions

There's a related thread on trailer hitches but I don't have any answers for that poster so starting a new one.

Am going through e-trailers.com to purchase a class III towing kit for a recently acquired 2018 GLC-300 4matic, Premium Package.

Last time I bought a hitch from them it was a Curt hitch for a 2014 GLK-350 4matic with ZCI (induction loop) wiring.

Took our mechanic better part of a day to fully install (difficulty 10 of 10) and multiple return trip tweaks to get it to fit so it didn't vibrate (unloaded).

Curt's minimal clearances and excessive powder coating mostly to blame so that along with eTrailer's "experts" recommending the DrawTite for this car have ordered that kit for the GLC-300 with (loaded) vibration suppressor kit - Curt was also less than helpful when called for help w/ fitment issues.

For the 2018 GLC-300, the wiring kit recommended is out of stock with a one month delivery date

and they've recommended the Curt wiring kit which says it's not compatible with this vehicle!

However, both kits require splicing into the wiring harness, which I am loathe to do, but am told be etrailer.com rep that there is no ZCI kit approved for 2018 GLC-300?

Why wouldn't this kit work for this application?
https://www.etrailer.com/Custom-Fit-...119250KIT.html

Is this really true or do they just not have their product specs correctly?

They claimed MB uses lower voltage and thus harder to detect. The kit seemed to work fine in the GLK-350.

Has anyone on these forums installed either the Curt or DrawTite tow hitch with either wiring kit?

Should I be worried about splicing into the existing wiring on this car (I think I should as it may invalidate certain warranties, or affect the car's electronic systems.

I know enough about electricity to know if it's done correctly it shouldn't be a problem - but I'm not one to take chances with a brand new to me GLC300.

Thx for any advice, experiences!

GLC300
I had a Stealth Hitch with wiring kit installed on my 2020 GLC and it works perfectly. I pull a trailer with 2 jet skis with no problem (about 2,500 lbs).

Pictures? Been toying with the idea of putting one on our '19 GLC.
