Creaking noise from rear suspension
Hello everyone,
I recently bought 2016 GLC 250D. Noticed a creaking noise coming from the rear suspension when you hit a bump. Could this be serious?

I assume steel suspension and not air suspension ?
Check rear shocks, if wet or leaking they will need replacing. Most shocks are candidates for replacing after 80,000km, but no one does and they last a lot longer. Always replace in pairs on same axle.
If car loaded and you hit a dip at speed then not uncommon for thump from rear bump stops. Rear springs are tight.
Front springs worse and if you hit a speed hump faster than 25kph you will need to check your teeth fillings are still in place !!!!

Hmm, possibly not bad news.
My understanding of air is if a leak your system will alert you. Also it may collapse and not maintain height.
Try driving with height raised to highest level. Over 80kph I think it reduces in height to reduce drag.
Try raising and lowering when stationery too.
I did have a noise from my rear with steel spring set up and removed all in boot, incl tools, air pump etc, still there.
Next I removed solid wooden cover and sprung privacy blind.
Noise completely gone.
I did not persist as I was happy not mechanical or suspension. I did put some insulation at cabin end of solid cover without much success.
I tend to think noise is from blind, either internal mechanism or where it sits in cavity and possible flex. Noise seems to come from passenger left side rear (car is RHD).
Another owner discovered on his car the rattle was loose locking when rear seats locked into upright position, he wrapped some electrical tape around secure u bolt and when seat closed, no rattle ! Brought on with vehicle flex on roads, etc.
