Good writing. that recall my job details.
I replaced the 9g transmission oil and pan. Also rear differential oil for my 2017 glc at about 100,000km as DIY.
Cost was.
Trans oil. LiqiMoly 9 liters about cdn$150
Trans oil pan. Rockauto cdn$100
rear diff oil. Redline 1 liter $30
Total less than $300
About 5 hours job after watchig many youtube videos.
I measured the oil amount drained, then filled almost the same amount.

I found the liqui moly top tec atf 1950 it has the specification for the mercedes transmission and its like $13 Canadian a litre.
You didn't reuse the old pan bolts? You bought new ones?
The filter and pan from rock auto comes with gasket and drain plug.

adding new doc, someone might need it. is shows how to drain oil from torque converter, after I opened the drain plug I got almost nothing the same as OP, but I stick a little straw into the hole (it did fit perfectly) and it started draining the oil very fast, I got about 3.5L out of it, no spills around.

Hi All,
I just took in my GLC 4matic for the 70k mile service. Dealership recommended a 4x4 service and quoted ~$800. I have so far had following fluids replaced
1) Diff oil change at 40k (not sure if this was both rear and front. I kinda remember it being rear)
2) Transmission oil change at 60k
Wasn't sure what the quote was for and when I went over the previous service history with the SA, he could not give me a convincing answer on what the service would cover. After reading thru the forum I'm assuming it might have been transfer case oil change and front diff oil change may be? Does that sound about right? Is 70k the recommended interval for transfer case and front diff oil change?

Transmission - includes torque converter
Transfer case
Front Differential
Rear Differential
Please see attached docs, 2016 maintenance recommend changing Transfer case and Tarny oils at 60K miles, but I read here on this forum, oil was sent to the lab after 40K and it was already bad.
There is no references to Front and Rear diffs or Transfer case for 2018 or 2019 models.
I did call dealer Trany service quote was $1400 so I assume quote you got is for Diffs and Transfer case, Oil OEM is about $200 + labor.

I changed out my tranny fluid this weekend everything seems to be working great so far. Thanks for the links to all the steps and all the tips.
Here's my 2 cents - I used a straw and stuck it in the torque converter hole and the fluid came out really fast.
- My new tranny pan didn't have the plastic guide pieces on the drain plug and there's one more, so they come off the old tranny pan and I installed them on the new pan. I misread a step where it says to stick up a 1/4 inch extension to push the drain plug plastic guide piece off so the fluid will drain out. Now not sure if you'd want to do that if you didn't have new plastic guide pieces cause I could see the clips holding them on breaking. We did it the old fashion way by removing screws and pulling down on the sides to let it slowly leak out, obviously would've been easier to push that plastic piece out of the way.
- the last thing was I bought liquid moly 1 litre bottles of tranny fluid and each bottle has a straw built in to squeeze it into the pan which would've been a huge pain in the ***, so we removed all the straws and caps and poured them into a container and pumped it in with an electric pump which worked great.
Thats all I have to add I think. So altogether with the pan from rockauto and 10 litres liquid moly and the tools the OP recommended getting (you can actually buy a kit with all the tools off amazon) I spent $330 Canadian, I bought an electric pump but it started leaking when it was pumping the fluid in so I'm returning it back to princess auto.

Valvoline Maxlife ATF/"CVT" 5Liter jug (newer version with CVT since 2022 or so) C$56
Castrol Transmax Atf/CVT 5Liter jug C$60
Those are new package labeled with "cvt", which has new additive chemicals for almost all AT and CVT (except Dual clutch transmission), including MB 9 speed (MB 236.17 spec fluid), BMW, Porsche etc.
They're much cheaper than Liqui Moly 1950.
but many Canadian Tire stores stock only 1 or zero. Just hard to find at store. Walmart.ca online order and pickup is for c$50
I have multiple vehicle to maintain, including Honda CVT, so using one universal transmission fluid will be easier than keeping all different fluid leftovers.

For 9 speed mb atf, Liqui Moly 1950 was my choice a few years ago. But recently i found two alternatives;
Valvoline Maxlife ATF/"CVT" 5Liter jug (newer version with CVT since 2022 or so) C$56
Castrol Transmax Atf/CVT 5Liter jug C$60

I know this is an older thread, but want to add something. If you use this gearwrench E-Torx Double Box Ratcheting Wrench, E10 x E12, you dont need to take off the transfer case support bracket for the one bolt in the back. Its tight and you have to go click by click, but it works.
