Comm chip Hermes Module

I took delivery of a 2021 GLC 43 at the end of July. It arrived from Germany without the comm chip / Hermes Module and also the dash cam due to chip shortages. Was told they would be installed at a later date when they became available. I waited 6 months for the build and delivery so agreed to take it with the missing items. I realize I lost all leverage when I agreed to that.

I’ve recently been trying to get some info from my dealer on availability of the chips because it’s becoming winter here in North America and I’d like my remote start to work. Lol
unfortunately have not been able to get any real info from them.

Has anyone in the same situation been able to get the chip/ Hermes module installed or received any info on when it will be available? Same with the dash cam?

Anyone know who could be contacted at Mercedes corporate in the USA who might have this info? I’m sure they are using all available chips to put in vehicles they haven’t actually sold yet. Lol

thanks!

I don’t think anyone knows when they will be available. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a year.

Honestly wouldn’t surprise me either. Was just curious if there was any info floating around out there I hadn’t heard yet. I wonder how many are waiting on this module….

The tentative time period was Q1 of 2022. It doesn't seem like chip shortage got worse (thankfully) so there is still a high possibility that the retrofit starts in Q1 of this year. So, look forward to it : )

My dealer has no info either. It’ll probably just show up in the mail unannounced. When? who knows. I’m not holding my breath for Q1 at this point.Lol

Some good news: I received a letter from MB today stating augmented reality camera is now available to retrofit - Service Campaign # 2022010001, and I should contact my MB dealer to have it installed. Hopefully everyone will get the same letter soon or probably just contact their dealers about the service campaign.

I received the same letter for my GLE. I'll see if they can do this at my first service in July

I got my letter today and dealer is ordering the parts with appointment set for 4.21/22. I'll call 2 days prior to ensure the kit arrived.
Dealer did not know if this had anything to do with the missing Hermes Chip! LOL

I received one today also. My appointment is for 3/14. Service advisor also tells me there is a recall open for a software update also. It’s the first I’ve heard about that but he volunteered they’d do that at the same time as the dash cam. Says total it should take less than 90 minutes.

I asked about the module while on the phone to my service advisor today also. They had no info on that one, unfortunately…

should have taken this advice. If anyone has an appointment coming up for the augmented reality camera/ dash cam make sure they have the part on hand before you waste a morning sitting at the dealership like I did.

After sitting there for 90 minutes waiting they came out to tell me they didn’t have the part, it’s on back order and they have no idea when they will get it. Said they’d call me when it comes in. Not particularly happy about wasting a morning.

but hey, they did do a software update for the ESP and I got my vehicle washed. Lol

Yep - same here, called day before my appointment to confirm and sure enough ARC kits are unavailable, was told to call in a month or so. Thanks - saved me a 45 minute each way trip!

Update: Called the dealer one day before Thursday's appointment to ensure part arrived. Dealer installed the kit and updated whatever needed to be updated.
Augmented Video now work perfectly and I have to admit it is a really nice feature. One of those things you didn't think you'd care about but really liked it after having it.
As far as the Hermes chip, it is a major bone of contention that even the receptionists' are aware of. They are trickling in but not enough to send out a service campaign bulletin.
I'm told they won't send out unless the quantity of parts needed are withing certain limitations.
Any guess is as good as another.

Hermes Control Module

Took delivery of my GLC300 in September of 2021,was promised control module by dealer in one month. This obviously was a lie,I was wondering whether anyone has considered a class action suit against Mercedes over misleading the buyers about these units?

Interesting. I bought my glc from 1 dealer and using another one for service - both had never given any kind of specific dates, not even ball park, on Hermes and ARC availability.

Follow up on the ARC kit. Dealer called yesterday and left message saying they were able to get a kit in. They tell me they have it on hand. Playing phone tag with service advisor now trying to get appointment number 2 set up for the install. Lol

Finally got it in May 2022

Took delivery in Sep. 2021 and just got chip in May 2022, when I went in to get repair of hood which would not open.

I’m going in tomorrow to get the ARC kit installed. Think I’ll ask about the Hermes module while I’m there. Thanks for the update!😁

Got my ARC kit installed. No charge. Took roughly 2 hours. Service advisor thought it was the first one they had done. Also, when I checked in they already had an order for the Hermes module install. They did not have the module on hand but this at least allowed them to order it. Just waiting for it to come in. They did not have a time frame but didn’t expect it to be too long. My sales guy told me to shoot him an email when the module comes in and I schedule the appointment. He wanted to set a few minutes aside while i was there to enroll me in all the stuff that interacts with the Hermes module. Hope this helps.
