Strange clicking/rattling noise most often when releasing the gas pedal (220D 4Matic)
Hi guys,
this is my first diesel car so I'm not sure if this is a malfunction or a normal engine running pattern.
Sometimes I can hear a strange clicking/rattling noise most often when releasing the gas pedal and it seems to be coming from the engine. I tried to generate this noise by shifting gears manually, but the sound appears randomly, sometimes you can hear it and sometimes you can't. It's not the AC. I don't hear any knocks when shifting gears and can't feel any vibrations - the car drives perfectly.
You can hear it from 0:09 to 0:13.
It lasts for a few seconds, like a soft ticking or rattling sound. Most often this noise occurs when I release the gas pedal between 1000-2000 rpm at speeds between 25-45 miles per hour. Sometimes I think I can hear this sound when I accelerate slightly up to 2000 rpm, but then it is less audible, as if muffled by the engine.
I don't hear this noise when starting the car or revving in neutral. The car does not lose power, it drives great, Assist PLUS shows the next service inspection in 250 days.
Should I worry about this and go to MB authorized service center?
Any ideas what it might be?
My car: 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC 220D 4Matic.
Thanks
