Heater issue

Last night while driving my GLC 300 and using the heat my wife noticed cold air coming from the glove box area. She opened the glove box and the cold air was coming out like one of the vents would. I had the temp set at 80° and on Auto. The heat was coming out the vents and not at our feet. When I pressed Auto the A/C was activated which I thought was weird. The car never got really warm inside so I started playing around with the settings. I hit the recirculate button and the cold air stopped coming out of the glove box and the heat got much hotter. The problem with having the recirculate on was the windows starting fogging up shortly after turning it on. Does anyone know what's going on? Why would cold air be coming out of the glove box?

I'm not sure what your outside temps are there, but here in lower Michigan is -15F wind chill, 2F ambient outside. It sounds like possibly one of the blend doors might be stuck. The cold air through the glove box might just be the result the air inlet being behind the glovebox. When it gets this cold, weird stuff happens with plastics. As far as the recirculation position the interior starts to fog up because of the humidity in the interior air with no new air being brought in due to the inlet door being closed (also, no more cold glovebox air). The a/c being on is weird in the auto position in winter except in defrost.
If it is really cold there, I would put the vehicle in a garage with some kind of heat and let it warm up to at lease 35F to see if there is something frozen. Keep us advised please.

Unfortunately I don't have a garage. It is in the single digits here where I live. My wife said she's been feeling the cold air from the glove box even before its been this cold here.

I will assume the instructions from my GLE will apply to the GLC since I don't have a PDF for the GLC handy. They say to heat the glove box, close the vent. To cool, open it. The vent should be like a dial that turns clockwise or counterclockwise.

Are you referring to this? I don't see that dial in my glove box.
