Need help with wheel studs!
Hello!
I have a 2017 GLC300 4Matic with Sport Package.
I bought some 43 style rims for my GLC and the wheel studs from my old rims do not fit on my new rims. I would appreciate if someone could give me a recommendation..
(New rims are 20x8.5 with an offset of 35… and my old rims were 19x8 with an offset of 38)
Both rims have a hub bore size of 66.6 and a bolt pattern of 5x112.
When my old wheel studs are placed into my new rims, there’s about 12ish mm of room with no thread which needs to be filled with a spacer or I will just need whole new studs. If anyone knows of a wheel stud dimension I need, I would love to hear. Please see the attached photos of my old rims, new rims, and the old wheel stud on my new rims. For reference, my wheel studs are M14x1.5
and you likely need a M14x1.5 ball taper bolt, around 30mm shank length based on how your photo appears. But if those are knock off repro rims using cone taper you REALLY need to figure it out so as not to lose the wheels.
Searching for these for instance might be a good option or you might need something a bit longer but with Amazon you can always order and return. You should have at least 6-7 engaged threads and a few more won’t hurt…

Except that bolts that are too long will interfere with the brakes. Be careful that you have enough thread engagement, but not too long.
The ball vs conical seat is likely most important here, ball bolts will hold a conical wheel, for a while…. Conical may not hold ball wheel more than a few miles, both mismatch may have you seeing a wheel pass you on a curve and end up with you dead so best get that right. Lots of Youtube videos to illustrate how they look on the wheel.
