Reduce Engine Oil Level Message

My wife totaled her 2017 GLC300 (no injury thankfully) we just picked up a 2022 GLC300 CPO car with 5700 miles she was driving home and got the "Reduce engine oil level " message it came on then went off then came on again. First I could find not find the dipstick like the 2017 had back right. Looked up in owners manual and appearantly engine oil level can only be checked with the onboard computer (ridiculous) the level shows right at the max line I assume it must be intermittantly triggering the sensor and perhaps 1/2 quart of oil needs to be drained off. We live 1 1/2 hours from the dealership. Would appreciate everyones thoughts.

I believe the dipstick went away sometime in 2019. It's a pain. I do my own oil changes on our 2020 & 2021 GLC300. Getting the message is more likely over filling with oil. With no dipstick, the only way to lower the oil level is the oil pan. That's why I installed a Fumoto F106FN series drain valve and Fumoto ADP-106 adapter/extension. I've had fumoto valves before and they make draining oil as easy as turn a small lever. I installed this combo on my GLC300 immediately getting this message. It was not going to get me again. These parts total $42 on Amazon. Well worth it. If you're worried about the valve not fully allowing all the oil to drain out. Correct, about a tablespoon but that's allowable to me. A locking clip keeps accidental opening of the valve. An underbody shield keeps anything from hitting the valve anyway. If I were you, get the adapter and valve. Do it yourself of take the car to a mechanic (not an oil change place). Drain the oil. Install the new parts. Fill with 5.5 qts intitally if you left the filter alone or 6 qts if you changed the filter. Then, use the computer to read the oil level. That takes forever. I think it won't measure until the oil reaches a set temperature. Be patient. Add 0.1 qt at a time to raise level. I know from experience 0.2 qt can go from fine to excessive.

Good luck.
