Apple CarPlay: Music Volume Muted When CarPlay Speaks Driving Instructions
In my previous vehicle (2017 Kia Sorento) Apple CarPlay would decrease the music volume (but NOT to muted) when speaking driving instructions. I could still hear the music but its volume was decreased enough so that I could hear the driving instructions (whose volume I had set upon delivery of the car). I liked this arrangement.
In my new-to-me 2020 MB GLC 300 4Matic Coupe CarPlay mutes music volume when speaking driving instructions. I can no longer hear the music. When it restarted the music after delivering instructions, the music has moved along meaning (unlike podcasts & audiobooks) the music had NOT been paused. I do NOT like this state of play.

- Has anyone else suffered this issue?
- Have you been able to "fix" it (i.e. arrange for quieter [but neither {a} paused nor {b} muted] music while CarPlay delivers driving instructions)?
- Is this a (a) CarPlay issue or a (b) MBUX issue?

Today - my first weekend day with the vehicle - I looked at the CarPlay options in the Settings app (Settings > General > CarPlay) only to discover that there is precious little "configuration" available to the user. Other than deciding which iPhone apps to select and how they are arranged, the iPhone user can only choose whether they want to "Allow CarPlay (to be used) While Locked" or to "Forget This Car". That certainly does NOT address my issue. Are there any MBUX power users on this board that might have insight into this kind of issue. I'm unsure if my experience is a system glitch or if it's user error where I accidentally flicked a switch or twirled a volume wheel at the wrong moment.
I suppose I should have posted this query in the Technical Assistance Forums under either "Audio & Electronics" or, perhaps, "Mercedes Tech Talk". (Any suggestions to a newbie as regards which is the better home for my query?)

My 2020 GLC300 Apple Car Play does the same thing. Since the GLC is not providing the podcast, the GLC cannot “pause” it. All it can do is mute it so the driver can attend to the presumably more important phone call. Seems like M-B decided that the driver might be distracted too much by trying to listen to a program while talking on the phone…….. while driving the car. News of a recent study was that humans cannot really multi task, they can only divide their attention to the detriment of the main task.
