Tail light replacement

HI All

I have a 2016 GLC250d.
Just broke my tail light (left) yesterday
Saw a spare on Ebay.
Thinking of replacing it myself. Anyone knows how to do it or have done it before?

Thanks

FYI, I had pose the question to two other Benz group.

I remember seeing instructions mixed in as part of installation of a Stealth Hitch. Maybe check their website for the installation instructions.

Good idea.
That was a pretty extensive set of instructions with photos. It might be hard to find though.

I just replaced mine courtesy of a young boy and a dirt bike handlebar.

Pop rear deck lid, locate cover on the inside of trunk area behind light, remove cover (three stiff tabs will release with steady strong pressure.
There will be 3 nuts holding light on. I loosend them then used grabber extension to hold the nut and continued to turn counter clockwise until off for all three
If you can, disconnect the wiring before removing light (depress small tab on side of plug and pull to remove) if not Dont rip the headlight out as you may also rip the plug or wiring off
Final step, I wiggled light back and forth pulling steady. It took a little effort to get the light to release from the rubber and plastic retaining slots.

HI Jacktar, thanks for the instruction.

When you mentioned the cover, is that the carpet layer (see photo)? Do I need to remove that as well as the lid?

No, the "lid" stays where it is, dont remove it, and inside that litte cubby area where the word REMOVE? is in your picture (have to bend down so you are looking up at the inside of the cubby you will see a 4x5 inch raised piece of the same material, thats what you remove.

Haha, thanks you. Did not notice this.

Is that the only lid that I need to remove to be able to remove the whole light assembly?

Yep thats it. Take care not to drop the nuts that are on the studs on the back of the light, and yeah unplug the wiring from there as well if you can
