Mercedes Me - No Option to manage Temp settings on remote start?

I own a 2022 GLC300 4Matic. I can’t figure out how to adjust the temp settings in the Mercedes Me app so the car warms up / cools down before I get in - which honestly is the only reason to remote start a car! Am I missing an app setting? Is adjusting the temp an “add on” that I have to pay extra for?

There is no adjustment of the temp settings. You leave the HVAC in Auto mode and set it to the temperature you want and then when you remote start it, it will heat or cool the interior to the previously set temperature. Works like your thermostat in your house. You set it to your comfortable temperature and forget about it. Left in Auto mode, it will maintain that set cabin temperature, heat and cool as needed.

I’ve tried that and it doesn’t seem to work. My previous vehicle was a 2009 GMC Acadia and it was smart enough to turn on the seat warmers/coolers and turn on heat/AC based on the outside temp — without an app! Just by pressing the remote start button on the key fob. I’m so disappointed in the lack of features here.

It's interesting how people view different options on their cars.

For instance, I'm really reluctant to let a car warm up at idle. It's one of the worst things you can do for an engine, especially when it's frigid.

My job, as owner and protector of the car when it's really cold, is to be in the driver's seat when it's started, and driving away to warm it up more quickly. As soon as I'm sure the oil is flowing.

Rapid seat heating is much more valuable than remote start for me.

The seat heating/ventilation is separate from the HVAC and they don't turn on automatically if that's what you expected. As for the HVAC, don't manually turn off the AC ever. You leave the AC on all year, leave the system in Auto and it will do what it needs to do. In the winter, the AC will remove moisture for you so the windows don't fog up and in the summer it will cool the interior. The AC compressor will automatically disengage when not needed. However, if you manually turn the AC off, then it stays off and won't work as intended. There's this misconception that some people have with automatic HVAC systems that they need to manually turn the AC off in the winter and turn it on in the summer. That's a relict from the past. It's called an air conditioner and not an air cooler for a reason.
