Installing a Hitch is a Big Deal

I completed my DIY project to install a receiver hitch and trailer wiring on my 2018 GLC. Wow, it was a substantial effort! My car has the AMG Line option with the Night Package, which required removal of the entire bumper . I found good GLC towing installation videos on YouTube from U-haul and E-trailer, however, my experience with my car's specifications turned out to be much more complicated. Now, I did modify the receiver mounting points to raise the hitch up 1.5 inches than its original position. This required more trim cutting and modifying the position of the tailgate foot sensors. I am very pleased with the outcome. The 2 inch receiver is tucked under the body nicely and does not hang too low. I will use this setup for my Kuat rack to transport mountain bikes, and to tow my small 3-rail motorcycle tailer with a 4-flat wire connection.

Very nice job. That should do the job for you.

If someone needs trailer brake wiring, they'd have to use another method such as a Tekonsha RF brake controller.

It's interesting to see what looks like a vent, behind the wheel well.

Thanks for sharing.

I had one installed as well. They had to cut the diffuser a bit because it’s a removable hitch which tucks away nicely when not in use.
