Has anyone changed there tire size from original 235 55 19 to alternate size 245 40 19. I have a 22 GLC and will be needing new tires shortly, 8000 mi. and the original Pirellis are shot. Was really leaning towards the Conte Crosscontact LX25 but I see a number of other choices like the Purecontact LS or the DWS 06 of which I now have on my S class, but I feel their too noisy.
Changing to the alternate size, what are the advantages or disadvantages. This car is basically an around town every day use in Western PA. I want tires with a reliable warranty, and so far Continental has been great, 4/32s and they want them off and issue good credit towards a new set. How about some thoughts and input.

Why do you want to change tire sizes? 245/40 is a lot smaller diameter than stock, this will throw off your speedometer and the engine will be revving higher at any given speed.

Before you change tire sizes, I would check to keep the diameter as close to original as possible.
