tire upgrade

I have a 2022 GLC 300 4matic SUV with the AMG Line optioned 20" wheels. I'm thinking of upgrading my tires from OEM 255/45 R20 all the way around to 265/40 ZR20 in the front and 295/35 ZR20 in the rear. What should I expect in regard to ride quality and cornering ability? These are the OEM sizes for the AMG GT43. Any and all comments greatly appreciated.

I think it will depend on brand and model of tire too.

Decrease sidewall means:
- Harsher ride
- Increased firmness when laterally loaded better cornering feel
- more prone to wheel damage from potholes etc.

Wider tread means:
- more braking/accel & sideways grip
- Increases risk of hydroplaning (depends on tread depth too)
- increases potential for tire rub on car.
- more expensive tire

Increase in speed rating means:
- more expensive tire
- quicker tread wear aka less mileage

Sure I am forgetting some.

have to decide what is important better handling car that will need tires more often or more comfortable ride and less money spent on tires in long run.

Won't you have to buy wider rims for the rear for that size tire?

Definitely an important question. A tire too wide for its wheel will handle like crap.

Whatever you do with the tires wont influence handling for the better anyway. If a car isn't set up for those tires, its not going to help much.
Plus, the GLC has a higher center of gravity. Its just not a sports car.

I'm of the opinion the best collection would be three cars. A truck / sedan / sports car.
