Weird wear on 2022 GLC Scorpion front tires
Wondering how many miles your Scorpion run flat tires last before changing. The rear tires are OK but the front tires are almost bald on the outer half for both. Plan to do an alignment once I get new tires installed.
I noticed some weird and probably dangerous surface damages in the middle tread of both front tires, as shown in the photo. Those dashed surface spallings on the left and a continuous scratch-like thing on the right.
What are they and what could be the cause? Are they related to wheel alignment or indicating anything wrong with the suspension? Any thoughts?
Wear pattern
IT IS NOW ONLY BASIC TOE - directional adjustment ! New car industry’s best kept secret.
On sighting excess edge wear there is NO LONGER ESSENTIAL CAMBER ADJUSTMENT TO RESOLVE / CHANGE TIRE CONTACT ANGLES “TO SPREAD LOAD MORE EVENLY”.
ONUS IS NOW BACK ON OWNERS TO FUND COSTLY, PREMATURE TIRE REPLACEMENT.
ALL TO DO WITH COST SAVINGS AND EVER INCREASING SPEED OF NEW CAR ASSEMBLY LINES.Stopping to adjust Camber is no longer an option. IT IS NOW SET AT ONE POSITION - “SHOWROOM HEIGHT”.
WE SAW THE NEED THEREFORE AND MANUFACTURE BOLT-ON - Front and Rear kits (No special tools or need for arm removal). Along with ease of precise adjustment !
CATERING FOR DAY TO DAY COMMUTING - encountering excess passengers side edge wear through high cambered roads. Or wheel squat / resulting in Camber change causing excess edge wear on both sides through extra passenger loads or lowering vehicle height. Fitting wide profile tires or performance driving - and not being able to adjust / compensate for excess outer edge wear.
