Question Reduce Oil Level warning

My daughter has a 2022. GLC. Had the oil changed at my MB dealer months ago. Last night while driving home she calls me to say that a yellow warning light went on “Reduce Oil Level “. I was somewhat concerned even though it didn’t seem to be an emergency. I could understand if the oil was just changed and the dealer did not allow all the old oil to drain. She has driven several months and several thousand miles since the oil change, why would it go on now. She has not started the car yet today. Thank you

A possible concern might be dilution from fuel contamination.
It's potentially dangerous and I would check it out.

Thanks Mikapen for your help. Not sure if I’m understanding correctly what you are saying. Are you suggesting that somehow gasoline entered the engine oil and raised the level of the oil? I always believed that these two systems were totally separate. Thank you

Or contamination with coolant.....is that something that should be checked?

When the engine is cold, fuel condensates on the cylinder walls and drips into the oil pan, especially because the engine runs rich when cold, meaning it injects more fuel than can be burned until the combustion process stabilizes and the engine temperatures are ideal. That's a normal process and under normal circumstances this fuel eventually evaporates if the oil gets hot enough for long enough.

Unfortunately, frequent short distance driving causes the engine oil not to reach the necessary temperature, so this fuel starts to accumulate in the oil and raises the oil level. Also the contamination is highly undesired, because fuel is a solvent that washes away the oil reducing its ability to lubricate. It's a somewhat common issue in the USA where people often drive short distances for simple things, because the stores are not where they live, so they have to drive a mile across town just to get a gallon of milk. All this short distance driving causes oil contamination and carbon build up. Another possibility as said above is a coolant leak.

If your daughter drives a lot of short distances, then it's likely fuel contamination in the oil and she needs to drive longer distances regularly. Either way should have to get it looked at.
