Digital Cluster question

Hi

i have a 2020 GLC300 with the digital cluster, I can change the design, what’s in the middle and in the right side, but does not allow me to change anything on the left ‘gauge’. Is this working as designed ? All demos I see allow the left one to be changed too and am wondering if something was programmed to stop this.

thanks in advance!
Luis

That is correct. There are two areas that can display different things. Where those two areas fall, depends on the design. In case of the designs that have the traditional two side-by-side dials one of the areas is between the dials and the other one in the right dial. In AMGs which have the Supersport design with only a single dial in the center, the two areas are left and right of the center rev counter as shown below. Which demos are you watching that show the left area can be changed?

Thanks. Sadly not an AMG, this answers my question. Thanks. As for the demos it was a video or two from Doug Demuro for the C class refresh for MBUX will try and find it. The left gauge had the page dots and was able to change it with the blackberry like scroller and in the video he changes what’s displayed inside if it.

heres an example from a UK and different model but still NTG6 (12:23 mark)

Ya forum member superswiss' car has NTG 5.5 COMAND, and the facelift GLC has MBUX 1.0 NTG 6, so the interface is different indeed.

There are different generations of the digital instrument cluster. While the X253 got MBUX with the facelift, it has the same generation digital instrument cluster as my C63 with NTG 5.5 as far as I know. The car shown in the UK video above is an A Class, which got MBUX from the beginning. The X253 only got it with the FL and it's a bit of a mix of old and new. The X254 has a newer generation digital instrument cluster.

Thanks to all, interesting indeed.

I just watched the GLE2020 review from Doug Demuro and that one even allows full map in the digutal cluster … interesting that these are so different in what they allow.
