2015 GLC 250d X253 - Knee Bolster Removal (Right Hand Drive)

Does anyone have any idea how to remove the knee bolster part of the dash on a 2015 X253? I have removed the bottom cover by the pedals easy enough, I can remove the leather boot around the steering wheel by prying it, I can slighly move the right side of the dash (Next to drivers door as RHD) by prying the clips there, but then the thing just will not move. I need to get to the tilt mechanism of the steering column so see why it does not work, and this thing is driving me crazy trying to get it off. I cant see any screws, online searches suggest it all clipped in, hinged on the bottom and the airbag stays in but I will be damned if I can get it off. Thanks!

Is the steering wheel stuck in the up position. Try giving it a good thump from the top while toggling it up and down. That will generally help it work after a few thumps. Turn your easy exit/entry off.

It is fully down. I can see the motor and threaded rod turning. I need to get to the locknut apparently from reading the solution online, but I need to remove the knee bolster to get to it. I have tried whacking the column to to get it to go up, no joy hence moving on to removing the knee bolster...

Tried whacking the steering column forcefully in all sorts of directions when it got stuck and still wont budge.

Right Hand Drive 2017 GLC43. Should be similar.

Remove the panel covering the knee airbag. T20 x 2 pcs. Lie on your back facing the steering column and you should be able to see this.

Activate the handle for the steering column UP & DOWN and note the direction. My motor and flexible rod rotates clockwise >> use a M13 open spanner and turn the nut circled in "yellow" clockwise; I need to turn roughly 30 degrees before the nut broke free and able to rotate upon activation of the handle .

Lube the threads (left side of picture) and the steering column had been working great since last year September.
