X253 220d — Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor Location + TCU P060C00
1. Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor (P047200)
Getting a short circuit to ground fault on the exhaust back pressure sensor. Can anyone point me to the exact location on the X253? Is it accessible without a ramp or do I need the car up in the air?
2. TCU Internal Fault (P060C00)
Also getting an internal CPU fault on the TCM (VGSNAG3, software 14.49.00, MB No. 0009015000, Bosch). Symptoms are gearbox stuck in limp mode on cold start, RPM climbing past 2500 before shifting, paddle shifters not responding. Cycling the ignition fixes it every time.
Has anyone had the same TCU fault on the X253? Was it resolved with a firmware flash or did it need a full TCU replacement?
Thank you for your help!

On the OM654 engine (220d), it’s on the exhaust gas recirculation cooler housing, near the turbocharger top left side of engine, at the back. You can see it from above if you remove the engine cover and look down between engine and bulkhead. No ramp needed but a small mirror helps. Sensor has three wires check for chafing against the EGR pipe.
2. TCU fault P060C00
Known issue on VGSNAG3 with that software version. A firmware update to 15.x.x or higher fixes it in about 80% of cases. If not, TCU replacement. Before replacing, try clearing adaptation values with Xentry and perform a quick learn sometimes masks it for a few months. The “ignition cycle fix” is typical for CPU internal watchdog reset. No need for new mechatronics if flash works.
