I have been very confused about the illuminated star option. Could someone confirm?

2023 GLE 450
I have been very confused about the illuminated star option. Could someone confirm?
For the manufacturer-installed illuminated star, is it always on (just like the daytime running lights)? or if it only turns on when the headlights are switched on?
If you have manufacturer-installed one, could you please confirm which is correct?
I have called 4 dealers. 2 said it is always on and another 2 said it will be on only when the headlights are on.
I have been confused.
