2020 GLC300 touring version (but I miss my '93 300SE W140 tank)
US version of X254

Is the US version an order-of-magnitude upgrade from the X253? I’m looking for 48V system, partial hybrid with geared motor/starter in the bellhouse, electric A/C compressor motor, upgraded MBUX with better AI, anything else?

I wouldn't say order of magnitude but I haven't driven one yet. It's a pretty conservative and generational upgrade - most things are just a touch better/newer. You pretty much nailed the tech differences, plus I think a slightly larger cabin.
