Why does my car make these noises when parked?

My X254 makes noises every few seconds when parked in the garage. It is an electronic whining, whirring sound coming from the front grille.
It happens whether locked or unlocked, and whether or not I have the key nearby. It eventually stops I think, but then the battery shows "partially charged"

I made a 2 second sound recording which is difficult to hear, but it's there as an ascending and descending tone:
GLC Sound

What is going on here?

Hum, I’ve never heard of that before. Check with your dealer or local priest.

Is your remote on you? Mine makes strange noises if I have the remote in my pocket. Try leaving it somewhere else and see if you still hear it.

I tried putting the key across the house and it makes no difference.

I've owned 10 Mercedes and had countless M-B loaners in my garage over the years. I've never heard that sound before.

I'm still laughing at @guitarplayer 's suggestion of involving clergy... I'll try anything to get a car noise to stop!

Good luck!

My workshop is in the garage, so I hear it while I'm working.
I think most people don't hang around their parked car like that.

Maybe Yes.
After enjoying the 10 miles ride, happy to rest with his buddy in the garage

My 2019 G550 is always making noises when parked. Since I drive it only once a week, I keep a 1 amp charger connected to its battery during winter months. This "never shut off" state is one of the most annoying "features" of contemporary vehicles. Can't understand why designers think this is cool.

may be related to some aux water pump for 48v battery https://www.glcforums.com/threads/gl...241/post-62442

My G has no 48 volt mild hybrid system in it, so that can't be it. My guess is that various actuators are being tested while the car is parked so that DTCs can be logged by the OBDII. These noises are strange indeed.

I believe the noise is related to the car being updated/synced with the MercedesMe app.

Here is your noise. Same on my 2024. Volume up. Heard it first when I opened the door after the car sat all night. Heard it again about 2 minutes later. Car had not been started. Waited a while and had the phone camera ready. Opened the door and it made the sound. This car has all kinds of weird (possessed) things. Sometimes when I open the door after it sat all night, air starts coming out of the vents. I haven't done anything except sit in the driver's seat. The parking brake sticks and makes an awful sound when I first back up. Taken to releasing the brake manually. Hands free trunk kick works about 2 out of 5 times. But no squeaks or rattles when underway.

I am not sure if I am hearing the same thing but that sounds like the normal fuel pump and the motor priming noise.
